Read more To share this eNews with your congregation, As we embark on bringing love to life at the LCANZ synodical convention this year, we are inviting members to join a new churchwide program of offering pastoral care to our sisters and brothers in Christ. Consider applying to be a pastoral carer. You will receive full training. Applications close 31 March 2024. Pastor Richard Schwedes will be the next bishop of the NSW–ACT District of the LCANZ. Pastor Richard, who will also have oversight of the Lutheran Church of New Zealand, was elected during the district’s 40th Convention of Synod at Wagga Wagga NSW earlier this month. He will succeed Bishop Robert Bartholomaeus, who is retiring. Read more In order to maintain its support of the LCA in a changing regulatory environment, LLL is returning to Religious Charitable Development Fund status. LLL customers have been sent a letter or email detailing how this status transition will affect them. Read more Lay delegate assistance The General Church Board recognises that some parishes financially struggle to send a lay delegate to General Synod and has earmarked limited funding to assist in some cases where the parish is unable to cover expenses. Applications for assistance must be made on the Lay Delegate Assistance application form and received no later than 31 October 2024. Applications and inquiries should be directed to: synod@lca.org.au Parish General Synod fees due 31 March Parishes, please remember to pay your General Synod delegate fee by 31 March. The fee, which covers Convention administration and running costs, is $550 (plus GST if appropriate). The fees are charged on a per-delegate basis to parishes whether or not their delegate(s) attends Convention. If your parish did not receive a notification letter or invoice, or if you need more information, please email synod@lca.org.au Reminder: lay delegate details and proposals due 31 March
