Important Staff Update: COVID-19 Exposure at Calvary Flora McDonald

Date:  22 March 2022

To:      All Staff – Calvary Flora McDonald

From: Ryan Midgley, General Manager Aged Care

I am writing to inform you that unfortunately one (1) resident has tested positive to COVID-19 at Calvary Flora McDonald over the weekend.

Other residents in Elizabeth Etheridge wing were tested and no additional cases were found. In line with Public Health Unit advice, another round of testing will occur later in the week, and we will advise you of the results once we receive them.

Residents in Elizabeth Etheridge wing are able to move around but must stay within the wing. Visitation to the wing is not permitted at this time, and we will update you once this changes.

Residents outside Elizabeth Etheridge wing are free to move around the facility and accept visitors, however, some visitation restrictions remain in place. Please see below for updated visitor information:

Information for visitors

  • Apart from Elizabeth Etheridge wing, there is no limit to the number of visitors allowed per resident, per day. However only two visitors are permitted at any one time.
  • Our visiting hours are 9.30am – 4.30pm daily.
  • Visitors will be required to complete screening requirements prior to entry and wear appropriate PPE (including face mask and shield) whilst visiting. PPE is provided by Calvary.
  • As a precaution to keeping residents safe, visitors will be required to have a rapid antigen test (RAT test) every 48 hours.
  • Visitation exceptions may be made for residents receiving end of life care, residents who may be experiencing distress, or where a special care and support role is provided. Please speak with the home manager to discuss arrangements.

Thank you for all that you are doing to ensure our residents continue to receive the safest possible care with empathy and compassion in this challenging time.
