KQ CONNECT

KQ Private View: The London Design Festival 2024 comes to KQ at Central Saint Martins (CSM)

25 September, 8:30 AM-10 AM at the Lethaby Gallery, CSM

Observatory is Central Saint Martins’ exhibition for the London Design Festival (LDF), challenging the notion of the solo innovator. It showcases how creative practices rely on interconnected networks—much like our Knowledge Quarter community.

Join us for an early morning private view and tour of the exhibition, featuring work by CSM students, graduates, and staff. As we bring together KQ members for this event, we celebrate the importance of interdependence in our knowledge-making work.

LDF 2024, running from 14-22 September, celebrates and promotes our city as the design capital of the world. Other exhibitions taking place in the King’s Cross Design District include a sensory booth to release your shame and a community workshop space made of locally reclaimed and fallen timber.

KQ VIP INVITE

KQ hosts policy development workshop on the Future of Work and Wellbeing with Nobel Laureate

On Tuesday, 17 September, we’re hosting "Geographic Fictions", an all-day workshop exploring the impacts of automation technologies on the future of work and wellbeing, led by Nobel Laureate Professor Sir Christopher Pissarides.

This workshop is part of a broader series examining technological disruption and its role in shaping future work policies. The insights gathered will contribute to the Pissarides Review Closing Conference and the final report, which will be released in January 2025.

The workshop is based on the Institute for the Future of Work’s (IFOW) Pissarides Review into the Future of Work and Wellbeing.

A limited number of places are available for KQ partners. If you or someone you know would benefit from attending, please reach out to us.

Leaving Twitter

Our Twitter account was permanently deactivated in August.

We’ve loved the exchanges and remarkable content our partner organisations have contributed over the years, when we were a more active user of the application. We believe exchanges should always be grounded in mutual respect, open-mindedness, and a commitment to the truth.

Unfortunately, Twitter is no longer the place where we can have those exchanges.

Next year, new criminal offences for social media companies will be in effect under the new UK Online Safety Act, making content relating to “racially or religiously aggravated public order offences” and “inciting violence” illegal.

We hope this legislation will bring about positive change.

In the meantime, we’re active on Instagram again. Keep up with our Feed for community events and our Stories to see live updates.
