Daytime stop/go is needed for a short section of highway west of the roundabout while crews strengthen the road shoulder to reduce the risk of potholes.
Tuesday 5 May, 11am-1pm, SH1 Dunns Crossing intersection
Travellers on State Highway 1 south of Rolleston can expect delays while crews chipseal the temporary road shoulder near the new SH1 Dunns Crossing roundabout.
The chipsealing will reinforce the road surface ahead of winter weather, reducing the risk of potholes forming.
Between 11am and 1pm, SH1 will be reduced to one lane for about 150m west of the new roundabout. Traffic will be controlled by temporary traffic lights, and drivers may experience delays of up to 10 minutes.
Although we usually avoid closing highway lanes during the day, this work needs warmer temperatures to apply the chipseal properly and is scheduled at a quieter time for traffic. It is expected to take around 40 to 60 minutes within the two-hour window.
As chipsealing is weather dependent, the work may be rescheduled.
