Parents Newsletter - April 2025As the winter term comes to an end, students can expect to encounter some challenges - some familiar, some new. Final exams often account for a significant portion of your student’s grade, and personal and social obligations combined with academic pressures could leave your student feeling fatigued. However, Ravens are never alone, and Carleton has great resources to help your student through the end of the term. Important Dates and Deadlines Tuesday, April 8, 2024: Winter term ends. Friday, April 11, to Saturday, April 26, 2025: Final examinations in full winter, late winter and fall/winter term courses will be held. Friday, April 18 and Sunday, April 20, 2025: Good Friday and Easter Sunday. University closed. Friday, April 25, 2025: Summer term payment deadline. End of Winter Term Resources As the end of the winter term approaches and the exam period draws near, there are many resources available to help your student academically and beyond. The Carleton community is here to support your student. Please encourage your student to use the resources available and to reach out to their friends and the Carleton network for support.
Easter and Exams Final examinations run Friday, April 11, to Saturday, April 26, 2025. The university is closed for Easter holidays on Friday, April 18 and Sunday, April 20, 2025. No exams are scheduled Friday, April 18; Saturday, April 19 or Sunday, April 20 (Easter Sunday). Exams resume as scheduled on Monday, April 21, 2025 (Easter Monday). The Exam Support Network operates during the final exam period from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. to help with any exam related issues, questions or emergencies for online and in-person exams. PASS: Finals and Study Sessions The term is coming to an end, but first—exams! Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) offers mock exams led by peer facilitators. Mock final sessions begin as early as Monday, April 7, 2025. For more assistance, students can also join the Centre for Student Academic Support (CSAS) and a PASS study buddy to work on general exam study tactics and review course material in a supportive, friendly environment. Alternatively, they can book a personalized one-on-one session with CSAS for help writing assignments and sharpening their learning strategies before finals Student Experience Questionnaires Now Available Student Experience Questionnaires are available until Tuesday, April 8, 2025. Students can complete their questionnaire through the link in their Carleton email, in the Carleton Mobile app or in Carleton360 (log in through the Current Students website) or on the Student Experience Questionnaire website. Summer Term Registration Open Registration for the summer session is now open for all students. The summer session is a great time for your student to catch up or get ahead on their studies Residence Applications: Summer and Returning Students Is your student planning to stay in Ottawa this summer? Are they a returning student looking for housing for the upcoming academic year? Residence at Carleton offers convenience, community and scenic campus views. Applications to live in residence for the summer 2025 term and 2025-2026 academic year are now open.
Carleton Mobile App Update: Version 1.6.0 An updated version of Carleton Mobile is now available to download. The new version includes a link to the HeyChef dining app, an improved exams view display, filters for electric vehicle stations on the campus map, bug fixes and general updates. Full details on the update are available on the Carleton Mobile news and release updates page. Volunteering with the ISSO Does your student want to make a difference on campus? The International Student Services Office (ISSO) is looking for dedicated student volunteers to help welcome and support global Ravens at Carleton University! If your student loves connecting with people, supporting fellow students and getting involved on campus, they can apply on the ISSO website. Co-Curricular Record: Adding Activities Your student’s Co-Curricular Record (CCR) is official documentation of their involvement in experiential learning opportunities at Carleton. They can use their CCR to support job and graduate school applications. Students should add their 2024-2025 student leadership, mentorship, extracurriculars and community service experience to their CCR by Friday, April 25, 2025. Tips for Tackling Move Out Waste Is your student moving out of an off-campus rental this year? This is a great opportunity for them to reduce their waste and help their community by upcycling unwanted items. Check out these tips to help your student on their green moving journey. Celebrating Convocation with the Class of 2025 Carleton University will celebrate the accomplishments of 2025 graduates with in-person convocation ceremonies from Monday, June 16 to Friday, June 20, 2025. Information for graduates, including instructions on checking their student account and their diploma details are available on the Convocation website. Getting Ready for Fall/Winter 2025-2026 As we head into the end of term, it’s a good time to ensure your student is ready for registration in the fall. Some things to consider in advance of registration include: Changes of Program Elements (COPE), government funding applications, registration status and year level, account balance and class schedule. The fall/winter 2025-2026 class schedule and registration course planning tool will be available in Carleton Central (access by logging into Carleton360) on Monday, May 26, 2025. Registration begins on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 for new first year students and Tuesday, July 8, 2025 for returning students based on pre-assigned time-tickets. Your student’s exact time-ticket will be available on Carleton Central approximately one week preceding the registration period. The Student Registration Assistance team will be available to assist with registration throughout the summer, offering in-person, email and phone assistance beginning Thursday, May 22, 2025.
