SH75 Halswell Road improvements project - night work

Kia ora,

We'll be working overnight, between 8pm and 5am, from Sunday 27 November, for about seven nights.

We’ll be investigating the ground conditions under the road along Halswell Road, between Curletts and Dunbars Roads. These investigations are important to inform certain aspects of our design for the planned road improvements, including bus lanes, along Halswell Road.

Our work is weather dependent and may need to be rescheduled to the following night(s). We will not be working on Friday and Saturday nights.

We’re working at night when traffic volumes are lower and to minimise disruption to the daily traffic flows.

We’re sorry for any disruption and thank you for your cooperation.

We'll be sending you an update about the project and updating our project web page before Christmas.

Ngā mihi,

The Halswell Road Project Team

What to expect

A small crew will be potholing (digging down) using a hydro vac truck to avoid damaging services.

The crew will be working at 20 different locations, about 200 meters apart, along Halswell Road starting from the Curletts Road intersection. They’ll spend around 2-3 hours at each location before moving to the next. The first 10 minutes will involve using the hydro vac truck and there will be some compacting at the end for five minutes. These are noisier activities. The remaining time will involve collecting samples, testing and then backfilling the holes.

The crew need lights to see what they are working on so you may notice extra light in the area. You may hear the noise from the hydro vac truck and the crew working. We know that night work is more disruptive to residents. Our crew will limit this disruption as much as possible.

Traffic impacts

The crew will work in the traffic lanes and in the middle of the road (median strip). Traffic will shift lanes around the work site and a temporary reduced speed limit of 30km/h will be in place during the works. Please slow down and follow the on-road signage.

Driveway access

Access to properties will be maintained. However, we may need to work in front of driveways from time to time. If you need to get into or out of your property and we are in the way, please just talk to one of our friendly staff and we will make sure you can use your driveway.
