State Highway 2 Remutaka Hill maintenance closure - 1 night, Sunday 15 October

A reminder that SH2 Remutaka Hill will close for essential maintenance on one night in October - 9pm Sunday 15 October to 4am Monday 16 October.

Escorted crossings are available for light vehicles only. To keep our workers safe, heavy vehicles cannot be accommodated.

• Please book by 4pm Friday 13 October at: customer@wta.nzta.govt.nz
• Provide your mobile number,car rego, make and colour for our Bookings Register
• Crossings timetable:
• Hutt to Featherston 10.30pm and 12.30am (22:30 and 00:30). Featherston to Hutt: 11.30pm and 1.30am (23:30 and 01:30)
• Please be patient: The crossing will be slow for everyone's safety.

Numbers are strictly limited and travellers turning up without a booking risk being turned away or having to wait at the closure point for the next opportunity. If you have a genuine emergency on the night, the hill manager will decide how best to help you.

Access will be available for 'flashing light' emergency services throughout the closure.

We understand the closures may inconvenience some road users and thank you for your patience and understanding as we carry out this essential maintenance work.

These regular night closures significantly reduce the number of disruptions for road users at other times. Road crews can complete a large amount of work safely during these closures because multiple crews can work across the hill at the same time without disrupting traffic.

Update on slump site, Featherston side of Remutaka Hill

• Work will begin soon on contructing a retaining wall to repair the area where the roadside has slumped.
• The work is scheduled for completion by Christmas.

The next scheduled maintenance closures are 5 nights from Sunday 5 November to Thursday 9 November, finishing at 4am on Friday morning 10 November.
