Damp and mould - we're changing how we respond

Starting 27 October 2025, a major change is coming to how social housing landlords respond to damp and mould issues.

Under Awaab’s Law, named after two-year-old Awaab Ishak who tragically died due to mould exposure in his home, landlords like Great Places will be legally required to act faster on serious hazards.

We’ve listened to our customers to help review our processes and are changing the way we do things to better address issues.

Can you check a fire door?

Fire doors can be life-saving; they hold back flames and toxic smoke and slow the spread, allowing you more time to get to safety – particularly if you live in a block of flats.

As well as routinely checking all of our fire doors, we've created a quick video guide of the key things that you can look out for, and how to report issues to us.
