Pride Month

Sydney is alive with pride this February & March. Waverley Library will be holding an art exhibition by Artist Samuel Luke, Paint & Sip, trivia, book discussions and celebrating the art of drag. All LGBTQIA+ community members and allies are welcome to attend.

Fambo Queer Arts for Kids and Families

Saturday 18 February, 10am - 2pm,
Bondi Pavilion

Visit the Rainbow Wall installation and add your own colourful self-portrait of your present, future or dream self.  Make your own unique Pride flag or pronoun badge. In addition to Fambo’s great offerings, you can have a rainbow painted on your face and come together with other kids and families to celebrate the festivities of WorldPride!

Drag Makeup Tutorial with Ruby Royale

Ever wanted to learn how to paint your face like a queen? Drag up your makeup skills for World Pride. We are delighted to have the  fabulous Ruby Royale host this not to be missed masterclass. Ruby will take you through step by step and teach you all you need to know to create your own drag look.

Film Screening

Friday 10 March, 10am - 11.45 am

Set mainly during World War II, Alice Lamb, a reclusive writer who is forced to host a young boy in her cottage. Frank, whose parents are helping with the war effort, was evacuated from London. As Alice's heart starts opening up to Frank, there are flashbacks to the 1920's when Alice was in love with Vera. Alice's heart is broken when Vera leaves her because she has a strong desire to be a mother.

Monthly 3rd Wednesday of the month, 6.30 - 8.30pm

Waverley Library is looking to create a fabulous new monthly reading group and we are calling all members of the LGBTQIA+ community who are interested in joining Queer Reads. Celebrate diversity and difference and make new friends in the queer community. We will discuss what you've been reading, listening to, and watching.

World Pride

Growing up, William Yang came across an article that made him feel as if "there were only four homosexuals in the world: Oscar Wilde, Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo- and me." William Yang moved from Brisbane to Sydney in 1969, where he began working as a social photographer. Living in South Bondi, Yang documented Sydney's queer scene, family ties, sexual and cultural identify, and the Australian landscape. Yang is a playwright, artist, photographer and author and an iconic part of Sydney's queer history.

Are you crafty? A true crime lover? We are gathering all makers to come and listen to an episode of a true crime podcast while working on your current project. We will meet fortnightly and listen to one episode of a true crime podcast mini series, with a chance to discuss the podcast episode.

Congratulations to our grand prize winner Mina and runners up Isabel and Yael who have won book vouchers for a local bookstore. Waverley Library want to also congratulate all those children who were involved over the summer, reading hundreds of books in the process. We can’t wait to do it all again this coming summer.

Composting and Worm Farming Workshop for Beginners

Make the most of your waste and give back to the planet by learning how to compost and worm farm. In this face-to-face session, you will learn about the benefits of composting and worm farming, what can and cannot be composted and some simple tips and tricks that will get your composting system and garden thriving.

Sunday 5 March

Rally your community to make an impact that improves your environment and reduces litter. Clean Up Australia will send you a free starter kit that contains bags, gloves and everything you need to create a safe, fun and effective Clean Up. Simply leave your bags of litter next to a public bin and we will collect them.
