Your MOC Update

Sonnya Dennis, DVM, DABVP (Canine & Feline Practice), MOC Chair

Just a couple of weeks to go for those who need to complete Maintenance of Certification (MOC) in 2026. If you have applications that are still under review and cannot submit your “renewal” application, please contact me ASAP.

PLEASE, FOR THE SAKE OF OUR VOLUNTEERS' TIME, do NOT submit duplicate applications. This is really slowing down the approval process. Prolydian isn't smart enough to tell whether there is a duplicate, so each one has to be reviewed manually.

  1. You can see the APPLICATIONS you submitted and filter by “under review,” “needs information,” “rejected,” and “approved” in your Prolydian portal. All the how-to guides are on the MOC web page.

2. You can also see what is APPROVED on your Certificant Dashboard.

You can sort by Category, then by Date, Title, or Activity Type.

MOC webpage with step-by-step guides/FAQs
Individual RVS MOC Vice Chair emails are listed in the Certification Guidelines
Journal Club: Keep up with Journal Club! Back issues will not be available once they are removed from the website.

Celebrating Pride Month

This June, the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners recognizes Pride Month and celebrates the contributions of LGBTQ+ professionals throughout veterinary medicine. Creating a profession where all individuals feel welcomed, respected, and empowered strengthens our ability to serve patients, clients, and communities.

The ABVP® is happy to highlight the work of our friends from the Pride Veterinary Medical Community (PrideVMC), an organization dedicated to supporting, empowering, and advancing LGBTQ+ individuals and allies in veterinary medicine. Through mentorship, education, advocacy, and community-building, PrideVMC helps foster a more inclusive and equitable veterinary profession.

Among PrideVMC's many resources are the Gender Identity Bill of Rights (GIBOR), which promotes understanding and respect for gender diversity in veterinary settings, and the PrideVMC First Aid Kit, a practical collection of tools and guidance to help individuals and organizations create more welcoming and inclusive environments. These resources provide actionable steps for veterinary professionals seeking to support colleagues, clients, and students of all gender identities and sexual orientations.

As we celebrate Pride Month, we encourage diplomates, residents, and colleagues to learn more about PrideVMC and its resources, events, and initiatives. Together, we can continue building a veterinary community where everyone can thrive.
