The Framework complements the National Suicide Prevention Strategy 2025-2035 and will measure the impact of Australia’s suicide prevention efforts. Supporting South Sudanese communities after suicide A new grief guide developed by Roses in the Ocean offers culturally tailored support for South Sudanese communities following suicide. It recognises the important role of culture, faith, community and traditions in processing grief, reducing stigma and promoting safe conversations, healing and connection. Addressing the overlapping determinants of suicide and mental ill-healthAlex Hains, Head of the National Suicide Prevention Office, presented at the recent Prevention in Practice Summit. He spoke about how suicide prevention in Australia must move beyond crisis responses to address the conditions that lead to distress in the first place, through policy, collaboration and system reform. Thriving beyond burnout in the suicide prevention sectorSuperFriend’s Beyond Burnout report shows that suicide prevention workers are facing more pressure and burnout, and need supportive leaders, safer workplace cultures and fair workloads to continue doing their vital work. Congratulations to the Future Leaders Program alumniRoses in the Ocean is proud to celebrate the Future Leaders alumni as they end their six-month journey in the program. They will now begin suicide prevention initiatives to support their local communities in East Melbourne.
