Stewardship 2023: Vision for the Future
“I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord. Jeremiah 29:11
It’s that time of year again. The 2023 Stewardship Campaign will run during the month of October. There will be a Moment for
Stewardship on October 9th, 16th, and 23rd. Look for a mid-month mailing that will include a 2023 pledge card. You will also be able to pledge online.
Commitment Sunday is October 30th.

Tracey Blake will host the October meeting at her home on Thursday, October 6th at 7pm.

Service of Remembrance
On Sunday, October 30th, during worship, we will read the names of those from our church who have died in the past year. We hope this will be a service of celebration and healing for those who have suffered a loss and a time once again to give God thanks for the lives of those who have touched our own.

Christmas Cantata
After 2 years, the Christmas Canata is back and will be performed LIVE on December 11th during worship. All who wish to participate are invited to attend rehearsals on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 starting this week, October 5th.
The name of the work is "Joy!," arranged by Joel Raney and sung in Gospel style. We hope you can join us in presenting this wonderful energetic work! See Jamie with questions.

Stop in and check out our new nursery! Even if you don’t have kids who use the nursery, come and see how much brighter and welcoming it is! Thank you to Kenna Anderson for painting, Howie Peterson for his carpentry skills and painting, and many thanks to Dorothy Peterson for making the curtains!

Gift Cards Needed for Back Bay Mission
As St. Matthew's work trip to Biloxi draws near, we are collecting Walmart gift cards to donate to Back Bay Mission. St. Matthew will also benefit when the gift cards are purchased through the RaiseRight (formerly ShopwithScrip) gift card program.
Edie DeBoard will be taking Walmart gift card orders through October 2nd. Make checks payable to St. Matthew UCC and note “Back Bay Mission.” If you purchase cards yourself, please get them in $25 denominations. Cards or checks can be put in the offering plate on Sunday or dropped in the office mailbox. Contact Jeannine Adams with questions.

Wheaton Drama Presents "Sister Act"
St. Matthew Membership Life invites you to attend "Sister Act," a Wheaton Drama production, on Saturday, October 8th at 7:30pm.
Tickets are $26 and can be purchased online at
www.wheatondrama.org. Tickets may sell out, so we encourage you to purchase yours as soon as possible. We will meet at the theatre, although dinner or dessert prior to or following the play are options.

Feed My Starving Children Trip October 10th
We are planning a Feed My Starving Children Event from 4:30-6:15pm on Indigenous People's Day/Columbus Day, Monday October 10th. This is a great opportunity for children and families to volunteer together. It is a very rewarding experience, and we hope many are able to participate as this a holiday for most school-aged children.

Pickleball - November 12th
Back by Popular Demand!
Adults are invited to come play pickleball on Saturday, November 12th from 2-4pm at the indoor pickleball courts at the Warren Ave. Warrenville Park District Facility. The cost for participants will be approximately $12/person (depending on number of participants), which includes instruction for beginners as well as a little something extra for the instructor. Grabbing dinner afterward will also be an option.
