Building Resiliency Across California’s Health Care Teams

Health care teams are navigating constant change, from new delivery models to the daily pressures of patient care. To support providers in adapting and thriving, CQC has released a new Building Resiliency Toolkit, now available through the PATH On-Demand Resource Library. In addition, CQC’s upcoming Equity-Centered Improvement Coaching Workshop (Oct. 9) offers a live opportunity to build resiliency skills and learn how to apply tools like the new toolkit in practice.

This self-paced resource offers practical strategies to help individuals and teams strengthen resiliency, manage change and sustain improvements. As part of CQC’s role as a vendor in the PATH Technical Assistance Marketplace, the toolkit reflects our commitment to promoting health equity, strengthening the workforce and advancing maternal and pediatric health.

Closing the Gaps in Postpartum Care

More than half of pregnancy-related deaths occur within the first year after delivery, yet there are no national standards guiding how patients are supported once obstetric care ends. To address this gap, the California Department of Health Care Services—in collaboration with CQC, the California Maternal Quality Care Collaborative, the California Department of Public Health and the Office of the California Surgeon General—has released Enhancing Postpartum Care for California’s Birthing Population through “The Postpartum Pathway.”

A contributing partner to the paper, CQC is also convening a Postpartum Care Clinical Expert Workgroup in 2025 to clarify care transitions and explore sustainable payment models to ensure patients don’t fall through the cracks. Released during National Breastfeeding Month, the paper underscores the urgent need to strengthen postpartum care and highlights CQC’s role as a convener of payers, providers and clinical experts in setting new standards.
