School holidays are here! Kids have a host of chilled out activities to kick start the summer. Bring on 2026 with some fun in (or out of) the sun. Council has banded together to create a list of all the fun, free events for children and their families.

Aquatic Centres are ready to welcome families to beat the heat!

Our Aquatics team are gearing up for a busy summer with a host of activities, lessons and information for families planning to stay cool.

Outdoor pools are open subject to the temperature guidelines
Summer intensive swim lessons are open for bookings
Inflatable fun is blowing up at selected times at Gisborne and Kyneton indoor pools.

Macedon Ranges Sports Precinct's January 2026 School Holiday Program

We’re launching a brand-new January School Holiday Program, to keep children active, creative, and engaged in the summer break.

Suitable for children aged 3–5 years and 6–12 years
Offers a fun blend of movement, learning, and hands-on activities
Runs from Monday 12 January - Friday 23 January

The BIG Summer Read is back!

Libaries in the Macedon Ranges are once again running the BIG Summer read!

Read five books or read for five hours over summer to go in the draw to win great prizes, including book, EB Games and Smiggle vouchers.

Bring the kids to Hanging Rock Races on New Years Day!

Relax on the lush lawns, soak up the vibrant atmosphere of Hanging Rock and let the kids have a blast in the extensive children’s activity area.

MCH Service open and running throughout January!

Council's Maternal and Child Health service will be running as usual from Monday 5 January.

A reduced service will run between Monday 29 December to Wednesday 31 December.

Remember the 24-hour Maternal & Child Health Line operates every day and you can call them on 13 22 29.
