PERFORMANCES AT HOTY VITAL AS APPLICATIONS FOR 2023 SHOW HORSE HP SQUADS TO OPEN POST-EVENT

The excitement is building as we approach one of the marquee events on the Show Horse calendar – Horse of the Year, which takes place at the State Equestrian Centre next weekend.

At the same time, preparations for 2023 are commencing as we look ahead to another bumper year in the world of Show Horse.

This includes the planning for the 2023 EWA Show Horse High Performance Squads (State Squad and Youth Squad).

Naturally, performances at Horse of the Year are a key factor in determining the makeup of both Show Horse High Performance Squads – bringing into even sharper focus the merits of a strong showing next weekend by competitors.

In 2023, riders who have ambitions to be selected for the Show Horse High Performance Squads will not only have to display strong and consistent on-horse performances at relevant events in the last 12 months, but they will also have to meet criteria surrounding participation in clinics and off-horse criteria.

There will be an emphasis on riders’ motivations for being part of the squads, their short and long-term goals in the sport, their training schedule and overall participation within the Show Horse community.

All eligible WA riders will be reviewed by the State Selection Panel with successful applicants notified shortly after. We encourage anyone who has the ambition and determination to be a part of the Show Horse HP State Squad or Youth Squad to apply.

For further information about the selection criteria, the squad selection process and to apply, please visit the Show Horse High Performance webpage.
