I hope you and your daughters are as excited as we are—the 2025–2026 West Hartford Girls Basketball League season is officially underway! Tomorrow, Saturday, November 15, 2025, is our Assessment Day for both the Juniors Division (5th–6th grade) and Seniors Division (7th–8th grade) players.

While the Assessment is not mandatory, we strongly encourage all Juniors and Seniors players to attend. This helps our coaches create fair, balanced teams and ensures each player has the best possible experience this season.

Please read the information below carefully, as Juniors and Seniors have different check-in and assessment times.

📍 Location

Sedgwick Middle School – Main Varsity Gymnasium
128 Sedgwick Road, West Hartford

Please enter through the gym lobby doors.

JUNIORS DIVISION (5th & 6th Grade)

Check-In: 9:30 AM

Assessment: 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM

What to Expect:

• Players will check in at the registration desk in the gym lobby.

• Each player will receive a jersey uniform top for the day. (Players should wear their own basketball shorts.)

• After receiving their jersey, players should put it on, enter the main gym, sit on the floor, and wait quietly for all participants to arrive.

• Players should bring only a water bottle clearly labeled with their name.

• No basketballs are allowed. If a player brings one, they will be asked to return it to a parent.

• At 10:00 AM SHARP, the assessment will begin, led by Craig Tanner, WHGBL Board Member and Director of Training & Development.

• Parents may not remain in the gym or lobby. You may wait in your car or return at 11:30 AM.

• Please be prompt for pick-up at 11:30 AM.

SENIORS DIVISION (7th & 8th Grade)

Check-In: 12:00 PM SHARP

Assessment: 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM

The Seniors Division will follow the same structure as the Juniors:

• Check in at the registration desk and receive a jersey uniform top (players wear their own basketball shorts).

• Players must bring only a labeled water bottle.

• No personal basketballs allowed.

• Parents may not remain inside the gym or lobby.

• Please return promptly at 2:00 PM for pick-up.

TEAM FORMATION & NEXT STEPS

Juniors & Seniors Divisions

Head Coaches will host their player drafts on Monday, November 17th. Shortly afterward, coaches will reach out to families to introduce themselves and share team details, including practice schedules.

Minors Division (3rd & 4th Grade)

Minors do not participate in an assessment. Teams will be assigned next week by James Bargon, WHGBL Registrar, and coaches will contact families once teams are finalized.

Practices

Practices will begin the first week of December.
