Community drop-in: What's happening during construction

On Thursday 18 September we're holding a community drop-in session about the Brougham Street Bridge and getting around safely during construction.

You can pop in anytime between 4.30pm and 6.30pm to the church hall just down the road from the bridge at 61 Brougham Street, Addington.

The details
Date: Thursday 18 September
Time: 4.30pm – 6.30pm
Location: Addington Seventh Day Adventist Church Hall
Address: 61 Brougham Street, Addington (parking available on site).

As construction of the Brougham Street pedestrian and cycle bridge gets underway, we are hosting this community drop-in session to talk through what’s coming up and how we’ll be managing things on the ground.

Come along to hear more about:

  • How we’re keeping people safe and traffic moving during the build
  • Construction methods and staging
  • Key timings and milestones.

It’s a chance to meet the team, ask questions, and find out what's happening in the next few months.

If you’re unable to attend, information will be available on the website following the drop-in www.nzta.govt.nz/brougham

Reminder: Upcoming work and local street closures

As part of the bridge construction, work will soon begin in the surrounding area.

From Monday 15 September vehicle access from Simeon Street and Collins Street onto SH76 Brougham Street will be permanently closed to allow construction of the bridge and cul-de-sacs to get started.

There will also be some temporary closures further along Simeon Street and Collins Street to allow for essential underground service relocations and early site preparation.

For more information on these closures and traffic changes, you can visit the website publications page

Tips for getting around during construction

  • Signs will be in place to help guide drivers through the new layout.
  • A temporary speed limit will be in place to help keep everyone safe around the work site.
  • Footpaths and cycleways will stay open, so you can still walk, bike, or use mobility aids through the area.
  • The construction team will be on site and happy to help with directions or answer any questions.
