New Toolkit for California Providers: Advancing Behavioral Health Integration for Children and Youth

CQC has released the Behavioral Health Integration – Children and Youth Collaborative Learning Exchange (BHI-CYCLE) Toolkit, a new resource designed to help health care teams strengthen pediatric behavioral health integration.

The toolkit highlights:

  • Integrated models of care and workflows
  • Team-based approaches to screening and measurement-informed care
  • Strategies for financing and sustainability
  • Equity-centered patient and caregiver engagement

Drawing on lessons from providers across California—including Rady Children’s Health, AltaMed Health Services and San Francisco Health Network—the toolkit offers practical guidance and case studies to support whole-child care and expand access to behavioral health for children, adolescents and families.

California and the West Coast Health Alliance Lead on Vaccine Guidance

California, together with Oregon, Washington and Hawaii, has launched the West Coast Health Alliance to uphold science-based vaccine policy and public trust. This fall, the Alliance released unified recommendations for COVID-19, flu and RSV, ensuring consistency across the region.

Recent updates to California law, including the passage of AB 144, provide strong protections such as maintaining insurance coverage for recommended immunizations, broadening the scientific expertise informing guidance and authorizing state leaders to expand recommendations based on evidence.

CQC applauds this bold step, which reflects California’s leadership in advancing health equity, public confidence and access to care.
