We're excited to announce that ASCP will have its first General Body Meeting this Thursday, September 8 from 1- 2 PM at Rosenberger Hall Room 102. We'll see you there!! 9/8 Deadline Friday 9/9: PharmD (RX Course) Absence Requests for Fall 2022 Religious Holidays! We are proud of the religious diversity of our student body and we want everyone to be able to celebrate their faith! Per the PCP Student Handbook, if you need to miss class for a religious holiday during the fall 2022 semester, the deadline for submitting the excused absence request form is Friday, September 9, 2022 at the end of the business day (5 pm). Absence requests for religious holidays that are received after that time will not be excused. Please let Deans Charneski or Waite know if you have any questions. Posted by Dean Waite. 9/8 Continuing Announcements Reminder! P2 and P3 REQUIRED Class Meetings! P2 and P3 students are reminded that required class meetings are scheduled and noted on the master PharmD class schedule. The P3 meeting is September 6th and the P2 meeting is September 13th. Meetings are at 2 PM (PCP hour) in IPEX 307. Students who need to be excused should email Ms. Kiara Butler at kbutler@sju.edu explaining the conflict. Attendance will be taken. Outside work will not be accepted as an excused absence. Students who have an unexcused absence for the class meeting will not be eligible for financial support from the dean's office for the academic year (student travel, state membership for P3's, etc). Are you a current P1 student interested in learning more about the PharmD accreditation process and looking for a leadership opportunity? The PharmD program will be undergoing an accreditation site visit in April 2023 and Dr. Bowen is chairing the self-study as we prepare for the visit. We are looking for a P1 student to serve as the “Accreditation Student Liaison”. The student will be working with Dr. Bowen and the current P3 and P4 liaisons to keep PharmD students updated and involved in the self-study process, and prepare for the site visit. Heads up that the SJU academic requirements to be named to the Dean's List and to receive Latin honors at graduation are different from the requirements at USciences! To make the Dean's List, students must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 for a semester in which they complete at least 15 credits at SJU and have no grades below "B". The cumulative GPA requirements to receive Latin honors at graduation are calculated only on the coursework completed at SJU, and are as follows: summa cum laude 3.85; magna cum laude 3.70; cum laude 3.50. COVID-19 is still with us (ugh) and we want to minimize the impact on PCP as much as possible! Please follow the SJU COVID-19 Guidelines listed below. 1) All students, faculty and staff are required to provide verification of a COVID-19 primary vaccination or receive an approved exemption prior to the fall 2022 semester, if not already submitted through Qualtrics (deadline: Sept 6). 2) Boosters are not required by the University, but highly encouraged. 3) CARRY A MASK AT ALL TIMES, wearing one in the Student Health Center and when asked by a fellow Hawk. 4) Testing is only required when symptoms develop. 5) Follow CDC guidance for symptoms or exposures. 6) Report positive test results and take appropriate next steps.
