Wildlife Policy Implementation Strategy and Elephant Management Plan unveiled 

The UNDP's Illegal Wildlife Trade (IWT) project, a collaboration with the Tanzanian government through the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism and with support from the GEF, has emerged as a shining example of success in combating poaching. Launched during a critical period of heightened poaching, particularly from 2009 to 2013 when Tanzania was identified as one of the "Gang of Eight" by conservationists, this initiative has made substantial progress.

After an impressive tenure of service spanning from June 1990 - that is 33 years of service! we are saying a heartfelt farewell to Peter Luhanga, our esteemed Finance Associate at UNDP Tanzania. Peter has been a cornerstone of our team's success, bringing dedication and expertise to every aspect of his role. His legacy of excellence will leave an indelible mark, and he will be dearly missed as he embarks on a well-deserved retirement. In addition to his exceptional work, it’s worth noting that Peter is an ardent football enthusiast. His passion for the sport has been a source of camaraderie and enjoyment within our team. As he steps into his new chapter of life, we want to express our deepest gratitude for his invaluable contributions over the years. We wish him a retirement filled with joy, fulfilment and many exciting football matches to watch and perhaps even play in. Happy retirement, Peter!

As we bid farewell to Nasser Ngenzi, our dedicated Travel and Protocol Assistant, we celebrate his outstanding service since 1993 - that is 30 years of service within the logistics team. Nasser's pivotal role in coordinating country office travel arrangements has been invaluable to our operations. His commitment to excellence and meticulous attention to detail have made a lasting impact. In addition, we would like to mention that Ngenzi is an ardent fitness enthusiast. We will certainly miss his presence on office hiking trips, and we hope he will join us for future adventures, such as the Pugu Hills hiking, when we extend the invitation. As Nasser embarks on his new chapter in his life, we express our sincere appreciation for his many years of dedicated service. We wish him a retirement filled with joy, fulfilment, and the opportunity to continue pursuing his passion for fitness. Thank you, Nasser, for your outstanding contributions, and we wish you a very Happy Retirement! 

 

As we eagerly anticipate the arrival of the new year - 2024, we want to extend our heartfelt appreciation to our colleagues, Joyce Delogé and Abbas Kitogo, who have been shining examples of fitness and wellness throughout the year. Your dedication to staying active and healthy has been truly inspiring, and we hope to see more of our staff joining you in this fitness journey in 2024. Together, you have run over 2,000kms and completed more than 12 marathons this year! Hongereni sana! And keep up the fantastic work in staying fit.
