Dear ,

As we gather with family and friends to celebrate Independence Day, let us reflect on the extraordinary courage and vision of our Founding Fathers—ordinary citizens who took the bold step to stand up for freedom, self-governance, and the right of people to chart their own destiny.

Here in West Hartford, we honor that same spirit of civic duty when we step forward to serve our community through public office. Local government is the foundation of our democracy, and each voice, each vote, and each volunteer matters. That’s why I’m reaching out today: to encourage members of our community to consider running for West Hartford Town Council or helping the campaigns of those who will be running.

Now Accepting Town Council Candidate Applications

The West Hartford Republican Town Committee (WeHa RTC) is currently accepting applications for candidates interested in running for Town Council in this year’s municipal election. If you care about the future of West Hartford—our schools, our neighborhoods, our taxes, and our quality of life—this is your chance to lead.

Per Connecticut State GOP rules, the WeHa RTC must submit our endorsed candidates to the West Hartford Town Clerk's office no later than Wednesday, July 23, 2025, by 4:00 PM ET.

To meet this deadline:
✅ Our
endorsement meeting is scheduled for Monday, July 21, 2025, at 7:00 PM ET.
✅ Please note that
this meeting will be open only to WeHa RTC members and interested, eligible candidates—our regular public attendance policy will not apply for this meeting.

To be eligible to seek endorsement:

  • You must reside in the Town of West Hartford.

  • You must be a registered Republican voter.

  • You must complete and submit a Candidate Application to the WeHa RTC Chairman.

👉 The deadline to submit applications is Friday, July 11, 2025, by 5:00 PM ET.
This timeline is necessary so that our Recruiting Committee can thoughtfully review applications and bring qualified candidates forward for endorsement.

Please note: We are already set for Board of Education candidates this year and are not accepting new applications for BOE positions at this time. The WeHa RTC may endorse up to six candidates for Town Council in this election cycle.

An Independence Day Gift: “The Big Beautiful Bill”

As of the writing of this message, the much-anticipated “Big Beautiful Bill” has officially passed both the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives and is expected to be signed by the President tomorrow—just in time for Independence Day.

This legislation, strongly supported by Republicans across the country, will deliver significant benefits to Connecticut taxpayers, including:
✅ Tax relief for working families
✅ Protections for small businesses
✅ Reduction of burdensome federal regulations

Please take a moment to read the message from CT GOP Chairman Ben Proto included below for more details on how this bill will positively impact our state.

Your Involvement Matters—Now More Than Ever

As we move closer to municipal election season, I encourage each of you to get involved in whatever way you can. Whether by:

  • Running for office

  • Volunteering on a campaign

  • Helping us spread the message of Republican values in West Hartford

Every hand helps. Every voice matters. This is the heart of representative government—neighbors standing up for neighbors to shape the future of our town.

If you are interested in running or volunteering, please reach out to me directly. There’s no better time than this Independence Day season to take that first step.

Thank you for your time, your support, and your commitment to West Hartford. On behalf of the WeHa RTC, I wish you and your family a joyful, safe, and patriotic Fourth of July.

With gratitude,

Shawn Daly
