Nunawading and Waverley Lutheran Church in Melbourne’s east is based in an area where 60 per cent of people come from China. So, nine years ago, the congregation responded to God’s leading by providing weekly English conversation classes. They have since been on a journey of targeted outreach initiatives underpinned by prayer and boosted by a mission grant, which enabled them to employ a Mandarin-speaking evangelist. There has been an influx of new students enrolling at ALC in 2025, with many embarking on a pathway to pastoral ministry. In Semester 2, up to 20 people seeking to enter ministry studies in the LCANZ may join the 18 students who began studies in Semester 1.
