Instant insights!

Insights curated by Redland City Council's Economic Development & Partnerships Group. If you want to learn more about the local economy, contact us or visit the Economy ID page for Redland City.

From January to March 2025, Redlands Coast welcomed an impressive 572,300 visitors, contributing $101 million in total visitor expenditure. The growth was fueled by a 39.65% surge in day-trippers and a 25.24% rise in overnight stays, signaling a vibrant start to the year.

However, the data reveals a shift in traveller behaviour — average spend per visitor dipped 20.51% to $1,198, reflecting more budget-conscious tourism. Still, the increased footfall offset individual spending cuts, keeping Redlands' tourism economy strong.

Local business spotlight: Golden Cockerel secures circular economy funding

Pictured: Staff at Golden Cockerel who will run the innovative equipment once installed.

Golden Cockerel, a local business contributing significantly to Queensland’s chicken supply, has successfully secured funding from the State Government’s Circular Economy Investment Program. The funding will be used to install advanced food processing machinery designed to enhance recovery rates during poultry processing operations.

The new machinery will enable Golden Cockerel to generate high-value protein ingredients while significantly reducing unnecessary waste products. This innovative approach not only aligns with the principles of the circular economy but also sets a new standard for sustainability in the poultry industry.

Golden Cockerel's success in securing this funding is a testament to their dedication to environmental stewardship and their vision for a more sustainable future. The company's efforts will not only benefit the local community but also contribute to broader environmental goals by minimising waste and maximizing resource efficiency.
