Supporting the Move from Primary to Secondary School

Moving up to secondary school is an exciting milestone for children – but it can also feel like a big step, both for young people and their parents. To help make the transition smoother, the Mental Health Support Team (MHST) has created a range of free resources designed to support pupils and families through this important change.

Our resources include:

  • Tips for young people – covering top tips for the big day, coping skills, and positive affirmations.
  • Advice for parents and carers – offering practical ways to support children emotionally and help them settle into new routines.
  • Wellbeing activities – simple strategies to manage stress and promote resilience during times of change.

The move to secondary school can bring mixed emotions, but having the right tools and support can make a big difference. These resources are aimed at helping children feel prepared, supported, and confident as they begin the next stage of their school journey.

Friends and Family Test

The Friends and Family Test (FFT) is an important feedback tool that supports the fundamental principle that people who use NHS services should have the opportunity to provide feedback on their experience. It provides a mechanism to highlight patient experience and is vital in transforming NHS services, supporting patient choice and implementing changes based on your feedback.

Each month we will be sharing patient experiences from our different services, alongside a patient comment.

86.12%
