Congratulations, and welcome to the 2025-2026 West Hartford Girls Basketball League season! While late registration remains open until Saturday, November 9th, at 11:59pm, we wanted to share several important updates as we prepare for another exciting year of basketball.

Registration Update

We are thrilled to report that 261 players have already registered for the upcoming season! Below is the current breakdown by division:

• Minors Division (3rd–4th Grade): 110 players (10 teams)

• Juniors Division (5th–6th Grade): 84 players (8 teams)

• Seniors Division (7th–8th Grade): 66 players (6 teams)

We are especially grateful to have sponsors for all six teams in the Seniors Division this year. Please join us in thanking our generous sponsors:

Coaching Update

Our volunteer coaches are the heart of this league, and we’re excited to report excellent participation this season:

• Minors Division: 7 returning coaches and 3 new coaches — all set pending board approval.

• Seniors Division: For the first time, we have more coaching volunteers than available teams — a great sign of growing interest and enthusiasm!

• Juniors Division: 3 returning and 3 new coaches have been confirmed. We are currently looking for two additional Head Coaches.

If your daughter plays in the Juniors Division and you’re interested in coaching, please email president@whgbl.org right away.  The league will be focusing on the training of coaches more than ever, so we'll be happy to work with anyone interested in coaching regardless of skill set.

Late Registration Ends

• Saturday, November 9th at 11:59 PM

Minors Division Team Assignments

• Team assignments will begin immediately following the close of late registration.

• Our League Registrar, James Bargon, will finalize teams shortly thereafter.

Juniors & Seniors Player Assessments and Draft

• Saturday, November 15th at Sedgwick Middle School

• This is not a tryout. The purpose of the assessment is to help coaches evaluate players’ skills for balanced team formation.

• All players are encouraged to attend, but participation is not required to be drafted.

Assessment Schedule:

• Juniors Division:

  • Check-in: 9:30–9:50 AM

  • Assessment: 10:00–11:30 AM

• Seniors Division:

  • Check-in: 12:00–12:20 PM

  • Assessment: 12:30–2:00 PM
