The summer works season is under way at Rangiriri which means motorists travelling through the site will see some changes to the traffic management on State Highway 1.
While the project team is working hard to minimise delays, people accessing local roads in the area may have to negotiate some detours.
The five-day closure of the Glen Murray Bridge is expected to go ahead from 7pm (tomorrow) Friday, 20 November. This will run to 6am, Wednesday, 25 November. If the weather is bad this will happen on Friday, 27 November until Wednesday 2 December.
This is to allow the Glen Murray Bridge to be connected to the new Rangiriri interchange bridge.
In other news, concept designs for the heritage and culture works, including the Rangiriri Paa commemorative area, have been prepared.
Realigning the state highway away from the paa site will allow the current section of SH1 to be filled in and a connection created between Rangiriri and the paa. Read more about it here.
