Te Ara Tūtohu: Waitara to Bell Block

	Upcoming road rebuild on SH3 Waitara From Monday 31 March to Thursday 17 April 2025, we will rebuild a section of State Highway 3 (SH3) south of the intersection of SH3 and Waitara Road. Rebuilding the road involves removing the existing road surface and underlying road structure (pavement) and replacing it with new materials. This will help maintain the road’s reliability and longevity. To complete this rebuild safely and efficiently, we will close this section of SH3 at nights, from 8pm to 5.30am, Monday to Friday. During the day it will remain open under a temporary speed limit. A detour will be in place via Richmond Road, Kairau Road East, and Waitara Road at night during the closure. The detour will add 5 minutes to journey times. Construction on the Waitara Road roundabout will continue during the day. Residents will continue to have access to their properties during the night closures. Emergency services will also be able to travel through the site. We are also planning a rebuild on SH3 north of the intersection to take place in May. We are currently confirming traffic management details for this. We will provide information on this rebuild when details are confirmed. Detour during the rebuild
