SH6 Nelson to Greymouth

SH6 Whakatu Drive

Line marking works will take place overnight on Wednesday 4 March and Thursday 5 March, finishing in the early morning on Friday 6 March. Crews will work between Annesbrook Drive and Salisbury Road Extension from 10pm to 4am. A 30km/h temporary speed limit and traffic management will be in place during work hours. Expect delays of up to 15 minutes.

SH6 Brightwater

Night time road rebuilding work on SH6 in Brightwater continues until Thursday 12 March (no work on Friday or Saturday nights). Crews are rebuilding just over 550 metres of State Highway 6 between Factory Road and the Brightwater Deviation. Work is being carried out under stop/go traffic management from 8pm to 5:30am, Sunday to Thursday nights. A reduced temporary speed limit is in place 24/7 until the work is completed. Expect delays of up to 15 minutes when travelling through the work site.

At times, entry to, and exit from, State Highway 6 onto side roads within the work site will be closed and short detours will be in place. This is necessary to ensure the safety of our contractors and all road users as we complete the road rebuild. Please follow the directions of traffic management staff onsite.

Read our traffic bulletin for more information.

SH6 Whitby Road, Wakefield

Crews will dig test pits for future resealing work overnight from Sunday 1 March to the morning of Thursday 5 March. Stop/go traffic management and a 30km/h temporary speed limit will be in place each night between 7pm and 5am. Expect delays of up to 15 minutes. Please take care outside work hours as the surface may be uneven.

SH6 Korere

Road rebuild work originally scheduled for completion on Friday 20 February has been delayed due to wet weather.

Crews sealed the site yesterday, Thursday 26 February, and will return to sweep the road and reinstate line marking on Monday 2 and Tuesday 3 March. A 50km/h temporary speed limit remains in place until Wednesday 4 March when work at this site is completed.

SH6 Granity Narrows and O'Sullivan's Junction

Crews continue with resilience work to help prevent rockfalls at Granity Narrows and O'Sullivan's Junction. Work at each site is being carried out Monday to Friday between 7am and 5pm, however stop/go traffic management and a 30km/h temporary speed limit is in place 24/7 due to the narrowness of the road. Plan ahead for delays of up to 15 minutes at each site.

Road surface reconstruction is underway now until Friday 6 March, between 7am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. Stop/go traffic management is in place, with a temporary speed limit of 30km/h during working hours. Temporary speed restrictions remain outside work hours due to an uneven surface.

SH60 Nelson to Golden Bay

SH60 Tākaka Hill

While crews have largely finished work that will impact road users travelling over Tākaka Hill, intermittent stop/go traffic management and a temporary speed limit of 30km/h may apply at various times through until late April for safety reasons.
