Over the last several months, the California Quality Collaborative (CQC), a trusted neutral convener, has united stakeholders from across the healthcare landscape — providers, purchasers, health plans and community partners. Leveraging our facilitation expertise, we've created collaborative spaces where diverse voices align on critical challenges, develop innovative solutions and drive meaningful health care quality improvement. Integrating Behavioral Health and Primary Care
Under the Behavioral Health Integration (BHI) Initiative, two key convenings took place:
- CalHIVE BHI Annual Convening: Participants focused on refining BHI workflows, leveraging data for care optimization and planning for sustainable financing. The event emphasized collaborative learning and prioritizing patient-centered, equitable care across diverse health care settings. Watch videos from convening faculty and participants.
- BHI Financing Convening: This event brought together stakeholders to tackle the challenges of reimbursement and strategic planning for behavioral health services. Discussions centered on findings from statewide interviews and identifying sustainable payment practices to support the long-term integration of behavioral health into primary care. Strengthening Primary Care in California
At the California Advanced Primary Care Initiative Summer Convening, health plan partners gathered to finalize preparations for the upcoming October 2024 launch of the Payment Model Demonstration Project, which will test a common value-based payment model in independent practices to strengthen primary care delivery. Improving Senior Care in California
At the California Medicare Collaborative Convening, leaders from across the state gathered to focus on improving care for Medicare beneficiaries. Key discussions centered on enhancing cognitive and behavioral health services, advancing chronic condition management and promoting health equity. Learn more about this work.
Reducing Disparities in the Medi-Cal Population
At the Equity and Quality at Independent Practices in LA County Annual Convening, provider organizations, partners and staff focused on building community, harnessing data for sustainable health care and addressing social drivers of health. Aligning on Medi-Cal Incentive Measures
At the CQC Roundtable: Medi-Cal Incentive Measure Alignment, managed care plans, medical groups, independent physician associations and other stakeholders discussed alignment and standardization of Los Angeles County’s Medi-Cal incentive landscape, fostering collaboration among participants to enhance health care outcomes. Reflecting on a Legacy: Final Patient Assessment Survey Program Impact Report
The Patient Assessment Survey (PAS), a program of the Purchaser Business Group on Health for over 20 years, concluded on July 31, 2024. PAS has played a crucial role in advancing high-quality, equitable health care in California by generating the nation's largest patient experience data set, uniquely stratified by race and ethnicity to reveal disparities. This data has been instrumental in driving accountability, public transparency and health equity.
