This month we celebrate the Riddells Creek Cool Changes Group as they launch the first Enviro Energy Expo, and we share with you exciting local updates from across the shire.

Veg on the Verge - Grow vegetables on your doorstep!

Are you interested in a small vegetable patch on your nature strip? 

You're invited to take part in a pilot project to transform your verge.

Five lucky households will receive support to start their garden bed with access to workshops, free locally sourced seedlings, equipment and one-on-one guidance and advice.

Nature Stewards - Applications closing

Discover more about the natural world around you through the Nature Stewards program! You’ll learn about:

  • plants, animals, rocks and fungi
  • climate change
  • being a citizen scientist and conservation volunteer.

Kyneton Backyard Growers launch

The Kyneton Backyard Growers want to share their produce with the rest of the community. Local residents with a love of growing and eating homegrown fruit and veg are welcome at the Fruit & Veg Share Stall every Sunday morning. Please come by the stall and help the Kyneton Backyard Growers launch their fabulous project that aims to get locally grown food into the hands of people who need it.

Explore the relationship between plants and soil

The Friends of Bald Hill invite you to join them in welcoming ecologist Karl Just and soil scientist Richard Macewan.
Karl and Richard will guide a walk along the granite ridge then up to the volcanic cone. Come along to learn about the relationship between local soils and plant communities.

UL Daly Nature Reserve - New signage

New signage has been installed at UL Daly Nature Reserve in Gisborne. The reserve is a unique example of remnant native vegetation. Take some time to visit and learn about the local flora and fauna. The Friends of Daly Nature Reserve meet at the adjoining scout hall on the second Tuesday of each month from 9:30-11am for working bees.  All are welcome.

Switch off your lights from 8:30-9:30pm on 23 March. This action helps to bring greater awareness to the issue and demonstrates your commitment to help protect the planet.

During the 60-minute switch-off you could practice some night photography or host a dinner, game night or scavenger hunt by candlelight.

Cultural Diversity Week 18-24 March

Cultural Diversity Week is a state-wide celebration that recognises the value cultural diversity brings to our community. This year’s theme is Our Shared Stories - Celebrating Together.

For the Love of Paws

Council’s new ‘For the Love of Paws’ campaign, aims to deliver important messages about responsible pet ownership to our community. Being a responsible pet owner means protecting your pet, other people’s pets, and the environment.

Bendigo Sustainability Festival

Now in its tenth year, the annual festival invites you to join the sustainable garden party. There is a focus on sustainability and associated products like home solar systems, EVs and effective communication for Landcare and sustainability.

The key speaker on the main stage is Craig Reucassel. He is an Australian writer and comedian who is best known for his work with The Chaser and for going through your bins on The War on Waste.
