Niagara Economic Development Newsletter

Message from our Director

Welcome to our latest newsletter, where we bring you updates on the key initiatives driving growth across the Niagara region.

As summer draws to a close, Niagara is buzzing with transformative developments that underscore our region’s dynamic progress. In this edition, we are excited to share news of significant projects and investments that are shaping the future of our communities.

We are proud to announce the opening of a state-of-the-art battery processing facility in Thorold South, a shining example of our region's commitment to environmental stewardship and innovation. Operated by Call2Recycle Canada and EVSX, this facility not only supports local recycling efforts but also sets a new national standard for battery processing efficiency.

In Grimsby, the economic landscape is undergoing a remarkable transformation. Vermeer Canada’s new headquarters, alongside the creation of over 1,000 jobs, highlights the town’s strategic importance and promising future as a pivotal player in our region's economic development.

Brock University is also entering a new era of growth, thanks to a substantial investment from the Government of Ontario. This funding will enhance the university’s facilities, equipping students with state-of-the-art tools and training to ensure our workforce remains competitive and attuned to industry demands.

Last month, St. Catharines proudly hosted the 2024 World Rowing Championships. This international event not only showcased our city’s renowned hospitality but also provided a platform to celebrate Niagara on the global stage, highlighted by the Nations’ Dinner attended by Consul Generals from participating countries.

Finally, we are thrilled to announce the grand opening of Holland Power Services' new facility in Fort Erie. This $3 million investment strengthens local job creation and underscores Fort Erie’s commitment to economic diversification and resilience.

Thank you for staying connected with the exciting progress in Niagara. Together, we are building a thriving and innovative region.

Best regards,

George Spezza Signature
