10+ Drawing Together

24 March - 19 April

For over 10 years our small group of fellow artists has been meeting regularly for life drawing. Covid stopped us hiring models and when we reconvened, we modelled for each other. Our art practices vary greatly and we use a variety of subject matter, techniques and media, as shown in this work, that provides a great source of energy for the group. Our shared love of the arts and working together gives us all focus and pleasure....and as ever, an ongoing challenge!

 

Portraits, Poses and No Prizes

The Waverley Senior Art Society present their take on a certain famous Portrait prize. Meeting weekly to share skills, stories and create work, the Waverley Senior Art Society are a vibrant group of artists from across the Eastern Beaches. For this exhibition the Society turns their gaze towards one another as well as their idols, loved ones and favourite celebrities to show off their portrait skills.

Waverley Library provides access to this comprehensive learning tool that bridges the gap between learning a language online and using that language in the real world by allowing users to do both in this one handy program. There’s even an app so you can learn while heading to work. There are over 100 languages including all the major language; you can even learn Scottish Gaelic and Welsh! It fun, free and easy to use.

Film: 3 Faces 

Actress Behnaz Jafari is distraught by a video plea from a girl being pressured by her family to abandon her studies at the Tehran drama school. Behnaz turns to filmmaker Jafar Panahi to help solve the mystery of the young girl’s troubles. They travel to northwest Iran where they have amusing encounters with the people of the girl’s mountain village. But the visitors soon discover that the protection of age-old traditions is as generous as local hospitality.

Give power to your voice

Complete your application by 27 March

Do you know a local aged 10 to 18 years old or 60+? Council is looking for youth and seniors to join our Power to the Future Program. Participants will use their voice, bring their ideas to the table, challenge themselves, meet and work with people from different ages and put their skills into practice to create a climate change program and campaign to be rolled out to the Waverley community.

Classic Hits Concert

Wednesday 12 April, 1.30pm-2.30pm,
High Tide Room, Bondi Pavilion

Classic Hits Concerts are back in the High Tide Room for 2023! Our second concert is the hugely talented Philippe Wittwer. Philippe is an amazing accordionist and entertainer who has mastered a stellar range of musical styles. He has performed at festivals all over Europe including the Queens Golden Jubilee event at Buckingham Palace and the famous John Peel Show (BBC world service).
