Celebrating PCP's Diversity - Hispanic Heritage Month 2024

Did you know Hispanic Heritage Month started yesterday (Sunday September 15th), and is celebrated until October 15th? The PCP DEI team is continuing its celebration of the diverse cultures within our community, as well as those of the patients we serve. We are starting these celebrations this semester with the start of Hispanic Heritage month. Stay tuned for posts throughout the next month! Important Student Travel Information

Students who are interested in receiving reimbursement for professional travel should be sure to review the guidelines found on the PCP Student Google site. Note that students must request funding three weeks before traveling. This deadline will be strictly enforced. APhA-IPSF Blood Drive Event - Donors Will Receive a $10 Amazon Gift Card!

APhA’s IPSF is holding a Blood Drive Event with American Red Cross on Friday, October 25th in the ARC MPR. Are you interested in learning more about Rho Chi and PLS?

Rho Chi + PLS are hosting an info night to help undergrad pharmacy students, P1s, P2s, and P3s learn more about these two highly regarded pharmacy societies and their recognition and application process. Rho Chi is the academic honor society and PLS is the pharmacy leadership society. This event will be held on Wednesday, September 18th at 6PM via Zoom. Be a Student Ambassador for PCP's Golden Graduate Event!

On September 21st, SJU will be hosting the PCPS Golden Graduate reunion, celebrating 50 year-graduates of PCPS. The event is embedded into Hawk Fest Weekend, which is SJU's alumni weekend. We're expecting a very nice turnout this year. I need 5-10 student pharmacist ambassadors to provide tours, mingle and show support for these important alumni. The event is 3-7 pm (3-4 pm includes tours of the museum) though you would not need to stay till the very end. You would be registered as a guest and should feel free to enjoy the food and festivities. The first 3 hours are the busiest. Sign up on the spreadsheet below as soon as possible. If you can only make part of the event, I've included a column to indicate that. Space is limited! 9/12

Microsoft and Apple Operating System Updates and Examplify Compatibility

Microsoft and Apple have announced the upcoming release of new operating systems Windows 11 24H2 and macOS Sequoia, but official dates are not yet available. Please DO NOT update your devices to Windows 11 24H2 or macOS Sequoia (including beta versions) until we certify Examplify’s compatibility with the new versions. PCP at Hawk Hill - Bridging the Gap!

Philadelphia College of Pharmacy at Hawk Hill is a student-led organization with the goal to create a warm, inclusive environment for undergraduate students to integrate into the pharmaceutical field with mentors and peers by their side. We will host meetings and events with other PCP organizations in order to unite PCP across campuses while advancing our academic and professional careers. The Admissions Office is looking for enthusiastic students to represent their program and the School of Health Professions for the 2024-2025 school year! Our Hawk Host Ambassadors will participate in chats, open houses and other events. This is a paid position and is a great way to get involved with the university! Interested students can apply using Handshake (Students eligible for Federal Work Study (FWS) will be able to view an application for FWS, otherwise students can apply to be a student worker (non federal work study)). Looking for Interested Pharmacy Students for a Research Article!

Dr. Alm is working on a Board Certified Pediatric Pharmacotherapy Specialist PSAP chapter entitled, "Pediatric Cough, Cold, and Fever". The paper will discuss how to safely and effectively triage and treat common pediatric OTC concerns. She is looking for 2 enthusiastic students to work on this chapter with her. The first draft is not due until January 9, 2025. Student(s) would also gain authorship on this article. Please reach out to Dr. Alm by email if you are interested! 9/12
