Cranford/Innes nightly closures for sealing

From Sunday night 8 March till Saturday night 21 March, we will be milling and resurfacing the Cranford Street/Innes Road intersection. This work will happen at night, with the east (Mairehau) side being done first followed by the west (St Albans) side.  Road and lane closures will be in place each night from 9pm till 6am.

During this work, Innes Road will be closed at the intersection and Cranford Street will be closed first southbound until about 15 March and then northbound. During the work there will be a 30km/h speed limit in place.

The milling machine and rollers will be very noisy and cause low vibrations, concrete cutters will also be used on some nights, these have a loud high-pitched squeal.

More information on the signposted detours, resident access and other details can be found on our website.

Philpotts Road Closure

From Sunday night 15 March till Wednesday night 25 March, access from Philpotts Road onto QEII Drive will be closed to traffic. This will allow us to construct the new left-in left-out intersection and tie-ins with the new lanes on QEII Drive.

When the Philpotts Road intersection is closed, you can either use Innes Road or Main North Road to access QEII Drive.

Pedestrians and cyclists will still have access to and from the QEII shared use path at Philpotts Road.

When Philpotts first reopens on Thursday morning 26 March, it will still be left-out only onto QEII Drive. The new permanent left-in left-out layout will be ready in early May.

More info on this part of the project is here.

SH1, Waimakariri Bridge Update

On Sunday night 8 March we will be removing barriers just north of the Waimakariri Bridge. This work requires the closure of the northbound left hand lane of SH1 and the Tram Road Off-ramp.  The detour for traffic wishing to use the off-ramp is to use the Ohoka Road Off-ramp, Ohoka Road and then Williams Street or Island Road.

On Tuesday night 10 March we will be placing barriers on SH1 just south of the Waimakariri Bridge. This work will also be done at night and requires the closure of the southbound left hand lane and the Chaneys Off-ramp.  The detour for traffic is via Main North Road.

A 60km/h speed limit will be in place over night. Please expect delays due to lane closures.

Reminder - Night work on QEII Drive

Tuesday night 3 March, QEII Drive will be fully closed between Main North Road and Hills Road/Innes Road roundabout so we can pour concrete to stitch the barriers and the bridge together. There will also be no access to and from QEII Drive at Winters Road, Grimseys Road and Philpotts Road. The night work starts at 9pm till 6am the next morning.

There is a good chance bad weather will extend this work to Wednesday night.

The QEII shared cycle/pedestrian path will remain open.

More info on access is here.
