St John's School Newsletter Term 4, Week 4 St John's is a Child Safe School where all children are respected and are protected from harm. Principal's Message Dear Families, It is great to be back at school and it was lovely to see so many happy faces coming into our school yesterday morning, everyone has grown a lot taller! Although there were times in the last fortnight that we felt challenged it was the support of our school community that got us through. I would like to take this opportunity to say ‘thank you”. Thank the students and families for their co-operation and patience. Thank you to all staff members for their dedication in supporting families and ensuring students continued to learn and for going “over and above” in helping us manage the situation. Thank you to the Euroa Medical Clinic, who with very little warning were able to put their own work on hold to support us. Thank you to Euroa Health for setting up and staffing Day 13 testing for our community. Thank you to the staff from Catholic Education Sandhurst for their support and advice and helping us with communications, organising our school cleaning and the disinfecting and delivery of student ipads. We are blessed to be part of the Euroa and Sandhurst communities. School Advisory Meeting - The next School Advisory Meeting will be held next Wednesday 3rd November at 6pm at the Seven Creeks Hotel. Mask Wearing -The Victorian Chief Health Officer has directed that face masks are now required for students in Year 3 to 6 indoors on school premises, unless an exception applies. We ask that families send face masks to school with their Year 3-6 child and explain to them the correct way to wear them safely and hygienically. If your child has an exemption please let your child’s teacher kknow. More information can be found at caronvirus.vic.gov.au. Vaccination proof - Under the direction of the Chief Health Officer all parents, visitors and contractors who wish to come onto the school site must now show proof of vaccination before entering. The door will still remain locked at this point. Departure of Students - Please contact myself or Andrea if your child will not be returning to St John’s next year. This does not apply to Year 6 students. We have a growing waiting list for enrolments at our school. Contact details updating - Communicating with parents over the last fortnight was at times challenging as a number of parents had not updated their phone number or email address. If your contact details have changed since the beginning of the year, please email Andrea or myself with your updated details. No lunch orders - A reminder that there will no lunch orders for the remainder of this term. We are all welcomed to the faith community. Those who have a firm and measured faith are welcomed. Their faith finds a secure place. Those who have questions and doubts are welcomed. Their faith questions can be explored without criticism. People in good health and those tested by physical and mental challenges are welcomed. This is an inclusive faith community. The Scripture (Mark 10: 49 - 52) Fill our minds that we may hear your wisdom. Jesus stopped in his tracks. “Call him over”. They called him. “It’s your lucky day! Get up! He’s calling you to come!” Throwing off his coat, he was on his feet at once and came to Jesus. Jesus said, “What can I do for you?” The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see”. “On your way,” said Jesus. “Your faith has saved and healed you”. In that very instant he recovered his sight and followed Jesus down the road. What makes the blind person so heroic in the gospel this week was his courage. He sprang up and without hesitation asked for the sight that will change his life beyond his imagination. He was not afraid to ask for it. It is time to ask God for the sight we need to be the best person we can be. God wants to help us and waits patiently for us to ask.
