They also reduce the number of road cones on the road and the risk of road cones being blown into a live traffic lane and retrieved by road workers.
Once the barriers are in place, right turns into and out of properties along this stretch of Halswell Road won't be possible. Drivers will be able to change direction at the next available side street.
The barriers will not be installed across side streets unless we need to put a road closure in place for any future work we need to do.
The barriers will be installed at night with little to no noise, and will be in place until the permanent raised median is installed.
