State of the Raven - February 24 to March 2, 2025

Exam Schedule Now Available

The winter 2025 final exam schedule is now available. You can find the schedule on the Scheduling and Examination Services website, through your Carleton360 account (log in through the Current Students website) and the Carleton Mobile app. 

The final exam period is Friday, April 11 to Saturday, April 26, 2025. Exams are not scheduled Friday, April 18; Saturday, April 19 or Sunday, April 20, 2025. Exams resume as scheduled on Monday, April 21, 2025 (Easter Monday).

Ravens Black History Month Speaker Series

Join world-famous Lego artist Ekow Nimako on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 for a journey through race, culture, identity and art as part of Recreation and Athletics’ Black History Month Speaker Series.

 

SOMA Health Symposium

Spirit and Oneness of Mind for Afro-Caribbean Students (SOMA) is a health symposium for the Afro–Caribbean Black community to celebrate Black History Month. This full day event on Saturday, March 1, 2025 includes presentations and interactive activities from keynote speakers and health leaders. All students are welcome to attend for free to enjoy the discussions, entertainment, cultural foods and prizes.

Ancillary Fee Referenda

The 2025 writ of election for ancillary fee referenda has been issued.

Question for all undergraduates: Carleton University Students’ Association (CUSA) is proposing a $22.68 increase to the student levy fee to maintain current services and programming levels.

Question for Industrial Design students: the School of Industrial Design is proposing a $35 increase to the existing technology fee (total of $130/annually) to support technology costs.

Vote by online ballot through your cMail or the Carleton Mobile app on Tuesday, March 11 and Wednesday, March 12, 2025.

Ravens Capture OUA Curling Title

The Carleton Ravens men’s curling team are Ontario University Athletics (OUA) champions for the second time in program history and the first time since 2019. Congratulations Ravens!

 

Experience Sky Woman’s Story and Indigenous Beading

Register for Off the Page and Into Real Life: A Sky Woman Event on Friday, March 7, 2025 to enjoy a first-person retelling of Sky Woman’s story in the morning and an Indigenous beading workshop in the afternoon.

Summer Research Opportunities for FASS & FPGA

The Carleton University Research Opportunity Program offers eligible Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) and Faculty of Public and Global Affairs (FPGA) undergraduate students the chance to spend 16 weeks (May to August 2025) conducting a research project under faculty supervision while earning a $10,000 stipend. For eligibility and further details, visit the FGPA CUROP webpage or the FASS CUROP webpage. Applications are due Friday, February 28, 2025.

Board of Governors Award for Outstanding Community Achievement

Do you know a Carleton student who is creating a substantial community contribution through volunteering? Nominate them or yourself for the $2,000 Board of Governors Award for Outstanding Community Achievement award. The deadline for nominations is Friday, March 21, 2025.

Scholarships for International Students

There are two scholarships open for undergraduate international students at Carleton!

  • Marie Odette Gabrielle Clay Memorial Award (valued at $1,300): for a student proceeding from one year to another
  • International House Award (valued at $850): for a student in their graduating year.

Apply on the International Student Services Office website by midnight on Friday, March 7, 2025.

Career Services has several employer and grad school info sessions coming up in the next few weeks! This includes a northern health centre, summer employment with Ontario Parks and teacher education programs abroad.

Carleton University continues to accept feedback from all members of the Carleton community on the revised draft of the Sexual Violence Policy until Friday, February 28, 2025. Feedback and comments can be submitted on the consultation website or by email at svpolicy@carleton.ca.
