How and where do you live during your studies?

Take part in the student housing survey and share your current housing situation and wishes.

The survey is carried out in cooperation with LUT and LAB and student housing providers. The results will be used to improve student housing in our study cities. The survey is completely anonymous and takes about 5–10 minutes to complete. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

Sisu is now up and running

We recommend that you check your information and create your PSP this spring. LAB will be implementing a new student information system, Sisu, this fall. 

Why should you do this now? You can currently use both Sisu and Peppi. Not all of your course credits are in Sisu yet, so some of your credits may be missing. They will be added to Sisu by the beginning of August at the latest. This means that the courses you’ve completed haven’t disappeared, even if they aren’t in Sisu yet.

Create your PSP for the next academic year in Sisu so that registration in August goes as smoothly as possible.

Here’s what to do:

1. Log in to Sisu at: sisu.lab.fi

2. Check your information:

• study eligibility
• personal and contact information
• Academic records will be transferred over the summer.

3. Create your PSP:

• go to the Study Structure tab
• create a new study plan
• name and save the plan
• review the sections and make the necessary selections
• note: You don't need to finish your PSP at this stage; you can complete it later
• you cannot register for courses yet; courses will become available in May–June

 4. In August 2026:

• Enroll in courses and for the academic year
• You can apply for substitutions and inclusions 

Enrollment for the academic year 2026 in summer and autumn

Between 1 May and 15 June 2026, students can register for the academic year as usual in Peppi. Due to the system transition, there will be a break in registration during the summer.

• After the break, academic year registration will continue from 3 August onwards in Oili-service.
   
• Registration for autumn course implementations will open on 3 August in Sisu.

Please make sure to complete your academic year registration in good time to ensure a smooth start in the new system in August. You cannot register for course implementations in Sisu unless you have completed your academic year registration.

Students liable to pay the tuition fee:

Please make sure to register your attendance information for academic year 2026-2027 on time! Between 1.5.- 15.6.2026 you may still register in Peppi, just as before.

Once we have moved to the new Sisu system, it is not possible to register for the academic year before the tuition fee payment has been registered. For this reason, please ensure that the tuition fee is always paid on time, following the given due dates.

Note! Neglecting the payment or attendance registration will automatically lead to closing of your study right. You may later apply for reopening of the study right with an additional 50 EUR handling fee. In case of reopening, you cannot avail the scholarship price in the next period of attendance.

Student customer service

Graduation in Spring Term 2026

If you wish to graduate on the spring graduation ceremony day, 5 June 2026, please note the following dates. Your completed thesis must be submitted for evaluation by 6 May 2026. All courses must be completed, and the degree application approved by your tutor teacher must be submitted to the Student Services by 20 May 2026.

If you wish to graduate during the spring term 2026, please note the following dates. Your completed thesis must be submitted for evaluation by 20 May 2026, and all courses must be completed by 15 June 2026. To graduate during the spring term 2026, the degree application approved by your tutor teacher must be submitted to the Student Services. Please confirm the final deadline for submitting your graduation notification with your tutor teacher so that they have time to process your application before the summer break. However, the absolute final deadline is 15 June 2026, after which the service will be permanently closed in Peppi. Due to the closure of Peppi, graduation is not possible in July.

Outage of student information systems

The transition to Sisu will cause a system outage lasting an estimated two to three weeks. During that time, no one - not even Student Services - will be able to access the systems to view information, and we will not be able to issue transcripts or other documents.

Spring Graduation Ceremony

The degree celebration of LAB University of Applied Sciences will be held on Friday 5 June 2026 in Lahti at 10.00 am and in Lappeenranta at 2.30 pm. In Lappeenranta, the event will be held in Saimaa-hall (Ballroom of LAB UAS). Due to renovations in the auditoriums, the Lahti event will be held exceptionally in the Puuseppä hall at Sibeliustalo in Lahti (Ankkurikatu 7, 15140 Lahti, 2. floor).

MOVEO Sport and Well-being Services

Lahti:

• Spring semester group exercise classes end for the summer on 10.5. and ball game groups end 22.5. Remote exercise classes and break exercise sessions end on 8.5.

Lappeenranta:

Summer Opening Hours of the Community Spaces and Wishes for the Upcoming Autumn

The community spaces on campus will operate with reduced opening hours from May 18 to June 12. During this period, the community spaces will be open Tuesday to Thursday from 9:00 to 15:00 for casual hangouts and service guidance. On Mondays and Fridays, the community spaces will be closed.

The community spaces will be on summer break and closed from June 13 to August 2.

The autumn semester of the community spaces will start on August 3, with a new program, more details of which will be announced later on eLUT/eLAB and in the community spaces by August.

MIELI Short term crisis support via phone or video

If you are an English speaker living in Finland, one-to-one crisis support is available via video or phone counselling. Conversations are confidential and typically take place over a few sessions.

An appointment with a crisis counsellor provides a safe space to talk about how things feel right now. This is low-threshold crisis help; no referral is needed.

You can book an appointment with a crisis worker for a remote consultation through our booking system. Counselling for difficult life situations - MIELI

If you cannot find a time that works for you right now, please check the page again soon, as new appointments are added weekly.

The Sekasin Live discussion support service at the Lappeenranta campus will go on its summer break starting May 20 and will resume on August 12 at the Lappeenranta campus community space, on Wednesdays from 12:00 to 15:00.

Last call for student exchange in the next spring semester!

Your last chance to apply for student exchange period for the spring 2027 is soon approaching (Note! NO application period during the autumn semester anymore)! The supplementary application period is 20.4. - 4.5.2026.

LUT Academic Library

Lappeenranta Campus Library will be closed in summer longer than usual

During the summer 2026 there will be radiator repair work in Lappeenranta Campus Library. Because of the repair work the library will close June 26th. We will open the library again in August.

Plan ahead, and borrow the books you need early in the summer. Follow the library's announcements to find out the exact closure time once the work schedule has been finalized.

LUT Academic Library offers personal information retrieval guidance remotely at your convenience, especially for thesis writers. Book the guidance. 

Thesis writer, are you planning to graduate during the spring semester?

Please, make sure you submit your thesis to Theseus by 21.6., so it will be handled before the library’s summer holidays. Check the exact dates for summer break later in the Theseus saving instructions guide.

Career services

LAB Career Spark is a subsidy meant to ease our students' employment and to support their integration into working life outside their home country.

You can apply for the subsidy for an internship or other work period that is aligned with your studies and supports your professional development, or for completing your thesis. 

Do you need help with your job-hunting skills or career planning? 

Find Your Career is your guide for career planning and job hunting in the Finnish labor market. You can use the platform to study the themes you are interested in whenever you need them - regardless of the time, place, or the stage of your studies. Link to the course.
