Maintaining Masking Requirements in Boston Public Schools Protected Students, Staff during 2021-22 School Year

Districts that lifted masking requirements saw significant increases in COVID-19 cases among students and staff, compared to Boston, according to a new study coauthored by Eleanor Murray. Learn more.

Five Years After Water Crisis, Nearly 1 in 4 Flint Residents Has PTSD
New findings by Salma Abdalla, Gregory Cohen, and Dean Sandro Galea, also indicate that 1 in 5 Flint residents may have experienced depression within the past year, underscoring the need for additional mental health resources in a community that continues to grapple with the long-term effects of the public health disaster.

Paid Sick Leave May Increase COVID-19 Vaccination Uptake
A new study coauthored by Julia Raifman found a 17-percent higher vaccination rate in cities with paid sick leave policies, compared to cities that do not have these policies.

After SPH dropped the Graduate Record Examination from its admission process to reduce structural barriers in student recruitment, the school observed an increase in applicant diversity, and no declines in student performance or post-graduate employment outcomes, according to a new analysis led by Lisa Sullivan.
