I am pleased to announce recent leadership appointments to the Saint Joseph's University Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and School of Health Professions. Dr. Cathy Poon, previously chair of the department of pharmacy practice (DPP), has taken on the role of interim dean, School of Health Professions. Dr. Angela Bingham, previously vice-chair of DPP has stepped into the role of acting chair of DPP. Finally, Dr. Danielle Alm was appointed acting vice-chair of DPP. ASHP Foundation has ASHP Midyear Travel Award Program Supporting Diversity in the Pharmacy Workforce! The ASHP Foundation is pleased to announce a new competitive travel award program designed to enhance the diversity and inclusivity of the pharmacy workforce for those in pharmacy school seeking post-graduate training, residency, or fellowships. The ASHP Midyear Travel Award Program will provide stipends of $500 to at least 30 current PharmD candidates expected to graduate from pharmacy school in Spring 2024. The stipends are designed to offset travel expenses associated with attending the 2023 ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting & Exhibition. For more information, click HERE. 9/7

National Patient Counseling Competition (NPCC) Interest Form! Looking for a fun way to get involved in APhA? The National Patient Counseling Competition is a great way to participate as a contestant or as a volunteer! If you are interested in becoming a volunteer or a participant please fill out this form and we will contact you in the coming weeks with further information! The first round of NPCC will occur sometime in mid-October and the second round competition will be in mid-November! This is a great opportunity to become a volunteer or to practice your patient counseling skills! The winner of NPCC on our campus will have the opportunity to represent PCP nationally, and also receives a fully paid trip to APhA's annual conference (This year is in Orlando, FL)! The CPR Leadership Team at Saint Joseph’s University will be offering Basic Life Support (BLS) courses on... Saturday, September 16 (Session 1: 8:00am-11:30am; Session 2: 11:30am-3:00pm; Session 3: 3:00pm-6:30pm). Sunday September 17 (Session 4: 8:00am-11:30am; Session 5: 11:30am-3:00pm) in IPEX 3rd Floor on campus. For more details on what to bring and the cost, click HERE. The training offered by the CPR Leadership Team at Saint Joseph's University is American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS). Deadline to APPLY to be a PCP Student Council Member is September 4th! PCP Student Council is now opening up the application to be a class representative for your year, or to be a part of a faculty committee! Being a class representative is a great leadership opportunity that helps bridge our classmates with the Council so we can better serve our peers. Being part of a committee focuses on different aspects of PCP that can perform better with the input of dedicated student leaders. THE APPLICATION IS DUE SEPTEMBER 4TH. These roles require your attendance in monthly PCP Student Council meetings and varying frequency of meetings within each committee. 22-23 members of PCP student council must re-apply.
