Click here ![]() ![]() State of the Raven - December 4 - 10, 2023Fall Term Exams – What You Should Know Fall term final examinations and fall/winter course mid-term examinations take place Sunday, December 10 to Friday, December 22, 2023. Scheduling and Examination Services' Exam Support Network will be operating during the final exam period from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. (modified hours on Monday, December 11 and Friday, December 22, 2023) to help with any exam-related issues, questions and emergencies. Important Dates Friday, December 8, 2023: Fall term ends. Classes follow a Monday schedule. Friday, December 8, 2023: Last day to pay remaining fall tuition fees to avoid a hold on access to marks and the release of transcripts and other official documents. Sunday, December 10 to Friday, December 22, 2023: Final examinations in full fall and late fall courses and mid-term examinations in fall/winter courses. Deferring Your Exam in the Event of Illness If you become ill during the December examination period and need to apply for a deferral, please visit the Registrar's Office website for the most up-to-date information about deferred examination eligibility, deadlines, application, documentation and more. ![]() Preparing For a Successful End of Term We know some students may be feeling apprehension about the upcoming exam season. It is completely normal to feel a measure of stress about exams, so if that is your experience, know that you are not alone. One way to ease exam nerves is to prepare. The Centre for Student Academic Support offers Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) mock exams, one-on-one Learning Support Sessions and Learning and Writing Support workshops. It is important we care for ourselves and our mental health while pursuing our academic goals. The Mental Health and Wellness website has information and resources to help understand, manage and improve your mental health and wellness while at the university. If you are unsure where to start, try the Wellness Service Navigator, which is designed to help you curate a list of mental health and wellness resources based on your unique circumstances. Additionally, the Wellness Desk in 204A MacOdrum Library is a space to learn about resources, connect with the Wellness Coordinator, and decompress during stressful times of the year with no appointments necessary. Counselling Services at Carleton The counselling team is here to support you through your journey at Carleton. Visit the Mental Health and Wellness website for details on free, confidential mental health support and specialized counselling. Holiday Closure Schedule Carleton University will be closed from Saturday, December 23, 2023, through Wednesday, January 4, 2024. During this time, all campus buildings will be locked. The library has an online booking system and Scheduling and Examination Services has designated 10 classrooms for student use. ![]() International Exchange – Deadline to Apply is December 17 The deadline to apply for the International Exchange program is fast approaching on Sunday, December 17, 2023. Winter Parking & Respecting Parking Staff Campus parking restrictions are in effect until Monday, April 15, 2024, from 1:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. to facilitate snow removal. As a reminder, there is zero tolerance for verbal or physical abuse of university and parking enforcement staff. Register for Winter Intramurals Get in the game this winter with Carleton intramurals! Whether you’re an expert or a beginner, intramurals are a great way to stay fit, meet new friends and have fun. With favourites like ice hockey, soccer, dodgeball and volleyball – there’s something for everyone. ![]() When to Expect Your Final Grades Final grades for fall term courses will be available through Carleton360 and Carleton Mobile sometime after the completion of the course. Instructors generally have 10 calendar days after the date of the final examination to submit grades. Once submitted, it will take a few days for the final grades to be approved. If you have outstanding fees for the fall term, access to your fall final grades will be withheld until the university receives payment. Academic Continuation Evaluation (ACE) Students will be assessed under the new Academic Continuation Evaluation process in mid-January 2024 based on fall 2023 results, and decisions will be posted by Friday, January 26, 2024. Students will receive their first evaluation after having completed 5.5 Carleton credits, and subsequently each term thereafter provided they have completed at least one course in the term of evaluation. Check Your Timetable Before January Prior to the beginning of the winter term, be sure to verify your winter term registration is in order. Click 'timetable' in Carleton360 to see your timetable for the upcoming term. Helpful information and some “how to” videos to assist with registration are available on the Registration website. You can adjust your early winter term schedule until Friday, January 12, 2024, and full and late winter term schedules until Friday, January 19, 2024. ![]() Academic Prep: Winter Reset Course Academic Prep: Winter Reset is a course for first-year students whose fall term didn’t go as well as they’d hoped. This course is designed to help students with any skill gaps, mental health struggles and lacking confidence they may experience.
