Clinical Trials News Recently, we have opened the CARISTA and Detect-PM trials. Local PI Dr Joanna Manton, Emergency Aims Thunderstorm asthma is a recurring public health emergency in South-Eastern Australia which occurs in springtime. The major identified risk factors for thunderstorm asthma is hay fever and allergy to ryegrass pollen. The goal of the CARISTA study is to identify the risk of springtime allergic and thunderstorm asthma in allergic adults living in South-Eastern Australia. Local PI Dr Daniel Chubb, Surgery Aims The DETECT-PM study aims to determine the sensitivity and specificity of tumour DNA detection in peritoneal fluid collected at the time of surgery for non-metastatic locally advanced (cT4, N0-2, M0) or perforated colon cancer to predict for peritoneal recurrence. PD and training opportunities Population Health Research Network (PHRN) The Researcher Training is a free online course designed to help researchers better understand linked data and navigate the access and approval process. OverviewThis self-paced online training program has nine modules and a final test, that will equip researchers with the knowledge and skills necessary to develop a feasible data linkage application. Target groupThis training program targets researchers new to data linkage who are seeking to enhance their capabilities in planning and applying for linked data projects. Research Office Reminders New project submission dates Draft protocols for new projects are submitted to the Research Office at least one month before submission is due to the AWH Human Research Ethics Committee (AWHHREC). After review by the Research Office, researchers will be guided through submission to the AWHHREC on ERM. 2026 dates will be released in next months newsletter.
