Professional Golf returns to Canterbury! - DVS Clearwater Open 13-16 October

Following a late venue change, The DVS Clearwater Open 54 Hole Strokeplay tournament will be staged at Clearwater from Thursday October 13th to Sunday October 16th.

This tournament is the only South Island event on the Charles Tour and is preceded the week beforehand by a PGA of New Zealand 'Pro-Am swing' through Nelson, Blenheim and Kaikoura

VFL Flexilease - Long time supporter of Canterbury Golf

Canterbury Golf General Manager Grant Lewis took the opportunity to visit the offices of VFL Flexillease this week and present owner Garry Donnithorne with a copy of the recently published "History of Golf in New Zealand" with a special inscription on the inside cover recognising the long time contribution of the company to Canterbury Golf.

VFL Flexiliease has been with Canterbury Golf since the mid-2000's when lease agent Richard Deighton started a sponsored vehicle leasing relationship with then GM Doug McSweeney. The support was extended later on when the company began sponsorship of the women's representative golf programme. The relationship continues today with Canterbury Golf leasing three vehicles through lease agent David Westerman, and still receiving generous support, particularly for our senior women's rep teams that has had a national title, and two runner-up finishes in recent years, along with high profiles players like Amelia Garvey and Momoka Kobori going on to notable careers in the Pro ranks.

Canterbury Boys and Girls at the NZ Age Group Interprovincial

During the week of 3-7 October both the Canterbury Boys team and Canterbury Girls team competed at their respective annual Interprovincial tournaments. The boy’s event was held at Cambridge Golf Club while further east the Girl's event was played at Rotorua Golf Club, both in great condition despite the unusually wet and cold October weather that was faced throughout the week.

2022 Canterbury vs Aorangi Rep Fixture

The 2022 Canterbury vs Aorangi annual fixture took place on 19 September at Ashburton Golf Club in the first official representative fixture of the season. Canterbury came away with a pleasing day of results with wins in the men's, women's, and juniors and a draw in the Masters to cap an undefeated day. Another highlight of the day was the Canterbury Golf debuts of eight players across the different teams.

2022 Men’s Masters South Island Interprovincial

The 2022 Men’s Masters South Island Interprovincial was played 1-2 October at the Motueka Golf Club which is set to host the NZ Freyberg Masters in a month’s time.
