QEII Drive further piling and wall reconstruction

Next week we are starting the steel piling for the QEII Drive bridge foundations. We hope to have two crews, one on each side of QEII Drive installing the piles so we can get this work done as quickly as possible.

This work will be noisy and we want to thank you in advance for your continued patience and understanding.

We are installing about 220 additional piles on each side of QEII Drive. We will do this work within our normal hours of work - 7am to 7pm Monday to Saturday.

All going well, the piling will take six to eight weeks to finish and then we will reconstruct the ramps and wall. The bridge beam will be placed early next year.

Transport projects aim to ease impact of extra traffic

The CNC is due to open in the middle of next year and will make travel times in and out of northern Christchurch shorter. However, it is likely to lead to more traffic using Cranford Street and some of the surrounding streets.

To help reduce the impacts of that extra traffic and to ensure the safety of all road users Christchurch City Council is proposing a number of projects including an upgrade of Cranford and Sherborne streets, intersection upgrades, pedestrian and cycle connections, a 40km/h zone and traffic calming measures.

Council is seeking public feedback on this initial package of transport projects - Let them know what you think.
