Happy Summer!

We're delighted to be back from our recent trip to Austin, Texas, where we participated in the annual National Alliance for Public Charter Schools Conference. It was an incredible opportunity to connect with passionate individuals from all corners of the nation, united in their dedication to charter school education.

In other exciting news, we're thrilled to announce that our team is growing. We have two new project managers who have joined us this spring: Stephanie Guerrero (Los Angeles) and Laura Grace (Houston). We also have two interns, Sheyla Portillo and Amir Duffie-El, who join us in our Los Angeles office for our pilot summer high school internship program.

This summer promises to be a busy one as we dive into various construction projects across California, Washington, and Texas. Our team is eagerly working towards delivering a range of new facilities for charter schools. The anticipation is building, and we can't wait to witness the positive impact these spaces will have on students' educational journeys.

As always, we're committed to keeping you informed and engaged with our latest developments. Stay tuned for more exciting updates, heartwarming success stories, and impactful initiatives from PCSD.

Warmly,

Our Summer Interns

We are excited to share the news of PCSD's high school summer internship program. This month, we proudly welcome two exceptional recent high school graduates to join us. Our six-week paid summer internship program is specifically designed to provide valuable experience and exposure to the real estate development industry for high school students from the communities we serve.

As we embark on this program, we are privileged to collaborate with our esteemed partners. Their generous sponsorship and invaluable commitment have made this opportunity possible. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our partner sponsors for their support and for graciously opening their businesses, enabling our interns to have the most enriching experience possible. Additionally, we want to thank LA Promise Fund/The Intern Project (TIP) for bringing us two amazing interns.

OUR PROJECTS

Why Not You Academy

WCSD successfully oversaw the transformation of a two-story former office building in Des Moines into a vibrant campus for Why Not You Academy (WNYA) through a two-phase renovation process. In September 2022, Phase II of the campus renovation reached its completion. This final stage involved converting the remaining sections of the building into various school facilities, including four additional standard classrooms, three specialty classrooms (two science labs and a sound studio), as well as advisory spaces and offices.

Catalyst: Bremerton

Following the successful completion of Phase I construction in 2020, Catalyst: Bremerton was prepared to embark on an expansion journey to meet the growing demand. In March 2022, Phase II renovations commenced, focusing on the construction of six new classrooms, four single-occupant restrooms, a new main entrance, and an onsite playground.

Ednovate Esperanza College Prep

PCSD and Ednovate partnered to create a brand-new campus for Esperanza College Prep, a college-preparatory public charter high school located in East Los Angeles. This exciting collaboration resulted in the development of a permanent home for Esperanza, which previously occupied a Prop 39 LAUSD site. With a capacity to serve 490 students, the new facility is poised to offer an enhanced learning environment.
