Palmerston Youth Festival 2021

Returning in the 2021 July school holidays, the Palmerston Youth Festival is set to be the biggest event on Palmerston's calendar. To mark the official opening of the festival is the Territory's biggest geek culture celebration; Geekfest Top End. Wrapping up the week of fun will be Suburban Sounds; a free, all ages music concert, with plenty of fun, free events in between!

Get excited for the inaugural ‘Geekfest Top End Esports Cup’, a day of video game tournaments and cosplay competitions taking over Palmerston CBD with a total prize pool of over $10,000.

Esports tournaments include:

• Female/Non-binary – Rocket League 2 v 2
• Under 18 – Super Smash Brothers Ultimate
• High School Teams – Rocket League 2 v 2
• Opens – Super Smash Brothers Ultimate
• Adults – Mortal Kombat 11

Cosplay competition includes the following categories:

• 9 & under
• ages 10-17
• 18 & over
• Groups

Participate for some fun, meet like-minded players and watch as champions are crowned the Geekfest Top End Esports Cup champion of 2021!

Comedy Gold Workshops

We're looking for the funniest young humans in Palmerston! Join award-winning comedians Amy Hetherington and Richie Fejo for a 2 hr workshop to develop your stand up skills and then share your best jokes at the Comedy Gold show on July 12.

The Comedy Gold show on July 12 will feature up and coming Palmerston talent and acts from the Darwin Fringe Festival and is suitable for all ages.

Pop-Up Parks is an initiative of City of Palmerston to transform the nature of urban spaces into temporary parks for community members to enjoy at their leisure.  

The Pop-Up Park will come alive with Live @ Lunch, Youth Space, Outdoor Storytime, Comedy Gold, Zumba and more from 24 July until 15 July 2021. Pop in from 9am 'til 5pm Monday to Saturday (excluding Sundays, public holidays and 10 July 2021).

Live@Lunch

Join us for Live@Lunch....Monday to Friday at the Pop Up Park, Palmerston Recreation Centre! Meet your friends and family for lunch and enjoy the acoustic sounds of Saysha Ham or Scott Murphy.  Our Pop Up Park has the vibes and set up for your lunch break. Meet up and utilise the CBD Lunch Specials or BYO.
