The PHINS Playbook is now Live!

Click the button below to download the PDF of our new PHINS Playbook.

The PHINS Playbook is designed to teach you all about what it means to be a PHINS Orientation Leader. It will be your reference book for everything about New Student Orientation and includes a breakdown of the NSO events and shifts. Please read through the Playbook entirely as a lot of time and effort went into its production. There may even be some questions from the Playbook that pop up during the in-person PHINS training!

PHINS In-Person Training

The required in-person training will be held on Monday, August 22, 2022 at 9:15am until 3pm. Please arrive between 9:10 and 9:15am to make check-in go smoothly. Training will start at exactly 9:30am.

At this training, PHINS shirts, nametags, and merch will be distributed out. We will give an overview of NSO, a breakdown of the 3 Mandatory meetings, have guest speakers, and the opportunity to win some free merch.

We will be proving a grab-and-go lunch for the training and will be taking PHINS Pictures for all PHINS, specific populations, and more at Penn Commons at the end of the training.

Additional Information

PHINS who move into campus by Sunday, August 21 can enjoy a complimentary dinner at Hill Dining Café from 5-7pm. All you need to do is present your Penn ID.

If you have not already, please join the PHINS Slack Workspace as this will be the best way to communicate with the NSO team.

PHINS Shift Sign-Ups

PHINS Shifts for NSO will go live TODAY, Wednesday, August 17 at 7pm ET!

Shift descriptions and protocols are available now in the PHINS Playbook on pages 10-13. Please read this section for the minimum shift requirements for each type of PHINS and keep in mind when signing up how many you need to sign up for!

Please read every shift before signing up; some shifts are reserved for PHINS Coordinators and Specific population PHINS. Also, every shift has a description of what it entails; please read them before signing up because some shifts may require a physical component like moving boxes.

All PHINS should register for their shifts by Sunday, August 21 at 11:59pm ET. The signupgenius will be open for change after that date but starting the 22, you must follow the drop and pick-up protocol in the PHINS playbook.

Please keep an eye out for our email for when the shifts go live!
