SH5 Waiotapu speed review consultation
After hearing locals’ concerns about speed through Waiotapu on State Highway 5 (SH5), we are proposing to reduce the existing 100km/h speed limit through the settlement to 80km/h.
As you know, we’re also making SH5 between Wairakei and SH38 safer with improvements such as roadside safety barrier, wide centreline and rumble strips. Work is progressing well on the northern end of the route at Waiotapu. These improvements along with a safer speed limit will make the area safer for everyone who uses it.
