JUNIPER Consortium Newsletter
October 2021

Dear friends and associates of JUNIPER,

Welcome to this months edition of the JUNIPER consortium's newsletter. It's been a busy month for the consortium. At the start of the month Dr Helena Stage gave a talk on cluster outbreaks of SARS COV2 as part of our monthly seminar series at the Isaac Newton Institute and it's available to watch here.  JUNIPER co-investigator Professor Daniela DeAngelis who is Deputy Director and Programme Leader at the Medical Research Council Biostatistics Unit at University of Cambridge was awarded a prestigious vice-chancellor award for her groups work on real time monitoring of the SARS COV2 pandemic. Finally, two groups within the consortium (University of Warwick and University of Bristol) contributed to projections of COVID-19 and the impact of potential interventions over the coming autumn/winter published by SAGE last week. Read a summary of the results here and the full reports are available here.

MONTHLY SEMINAR SERIES AT ISSAC NEWTON INSTITUTE

Speaker: Professor Matt Keeling (University of Warwick, co-lead JUNIPER consortium)
Title:
Roadmap 5: Booster vaccines and long-term projections
Abstract: Roadmap documents have been developed since early February 2021 to provide a set of projections showing how the gradual relaxation of restrictions and a return to pre-pandemic behaviour may impact COVID-19 dynamics. The most recent roadmap document has just been released with a long-term view of the potential outcomes over the next year. In this talk I'll review the previous roadmap documents from Warwick, with a focus on the latest insights from the most recent roadmap. I'll then consider how these projections inform about the longer-term public-health measures that may be required.
Date: 1st November 12:00pm-1:00pm (GMT)
