Throwback 2026
Throwback is Carleton’s annual homecoming celebration happening Oct. 1 to 4. Throwback is a dedicated weekend for students, alumni, staff, and community members to gather on campus and celebrate the university’s traditions, progress and future. Check out the schedule of events here. The highlight of Throwback is cheering on our Carleton Ravens as they take on the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees during the legendary Panda Game.

Bike Thefts on the Rise
Campus Safety Services has seen an increase in bicycle thefts on campus this past month. Thieves are targeting bikes that are secured with cable locks or left in unsecured areas, taking only seconds to cut through inadequate locks.

Fall Career & Networking Fair on Oct. 7

All Carleton students are encouraged to attend the in-person Fall Career & Networking Fair on Oct. 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Raven's Nest (in Alumni Hall). 

Learn about full-time, part-time, co-op, and future roles. Even if you’re not job hunting now or an employer you’re interested in isn’t hiring at the moment, understanding what’s out there helps you plan ahead. View the employer lists alphabetically or by faculty/department, and learn about employers with the employer cheat sheet.

Employers at the fair interested in grad students include Canada Border Services Agency, Canadian Security Intelligence Service, Department of National Defence, NexGold Mining Corp., Calian and more. If you have any questions or require accommodations for a disability to attend, please email: careerfair@carleton.ca.

Funded Research Visit to the University of Murcia for Doctoral Students

PhD students in any field are invited to apply for a funded research visit at the University of Murcia under the Erasmus+ program.

The program provides funding for the flight and a monthly allowance for a 3-month visit during the spring/summer of 2027. Applicants can choose their own advisor or be matched with one based on their research area and topic. A list of PhD programs at Murcia is available here.

Architecture PhD Student Sally El Sayed Awarded iBET Momentum Fellowship

The Azrieli School of Architecture & Urbanism is proud to congratulate PhD student Sally El Sayed on being named the 2026 recipient of Carleton University’s iBET Momentum Fellowship.

The iBET Momentum Fellowship recognizes exceptional doctoral students whose research demonstrates the potential to address complex societal challenges through interdisciplinary collaboration. The fellowship supports emerging researchers as they pursue innovative work that bridges engineering, design, technology and the built environment.

Upcoming Deadlines

Oct. 9: December examination schedule available online. Exam schedule for fall term final and fall/winter mid-terms.

Oct. 12:  Statutory holiday. University closed.

Oct. 26 to 30: Fall break, no classes.

The academic dates and deadlines are prescribed by the University Senate. These dates are available at the University calendar website. Dates relating to fee payment, cancellation of course selections, late charges, and other fees or charges are available at the Student Accounts website.

The Carleton University Art Gallery (CUAG) is hosting a fall exhibition launch party on Oct. 4 from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

New Adventures Anthology Now Available

In August 2026, the Department of University Athletics and Equity and Inclusive Communities launched the short story anthology, New Adventures, New Paths: Telling Our Stories.

Written by eight Carleton Ravens, the anthology promotes healthy masculinity through stories about co-operation, connection and care.

The book is now available for sale in the University Bookstore, with proceeds going to the Carleton University Sexual Assault Support Centre.
